Members baracuda2004
EB .50-.105 normally but my G string broke the other day and all I had laying around was a few extra .45's so i'm going .45, .70, .85, .105 at the moment. Feels weird and twangy though.
Members Super Bass
0.045-0.100 isn't really lightgauge. More like medium light. 0.040-0.095 would be lightgauge. Personally, I prefer .045 -.105 or .050 to .
Members Stella Joop
well now. isnt this just a giant steaming pile of fail.
Moderators Kindness Posted February 15, 2008 Moderators Share Posted February 15, 2008 Light? No. Optimal? Sure. My current 4 string sets are 45-60-80-110. The tension between ADG varies less than a pound. The E string is intentionally a few pounds tighter.
Members Bedbug Eddie
yep....like medium light I think....it's what I use on all my basses.
Members chris-dax
D'Addario 40-95 nickel half-wounds on my fretless jazz....plays like butta and sounds great...
Members willsellout
Sunbeam .40-100 here. Light gauge has a lot more flex and feels much better to me. I recently came to the conclusion that light gauge are what I love and my basses and I get along much better now. Dan

I've come to the same conclusion recently after switching back and forth for ever. I'm also digging the growl I get from .125 B strings.

Members fealach
I believe my Optima's are .90s. My 8 string has an .85 Rotosound set for the fundamental strings, thicker strings didn't work out so well. Generally use Roto Funk Masters unless I feel like trying something new. Members James Hart
Generally use Roto Funk Masters unless I feel like trying something new. I use to use ultra light Rotos on my Ric... .090 E I believe, maybe .085 but it's been a long while. Right now my .118 B's are followed by .095 E's. Members fealach
OTOH, my 5 string has DR steel rounds - I forget the name - the B string (well, A actually) is a 130 I believe. Just played it tonight for the first time in ages and man, does it need new strings.

Members willsellout
Lioght gauge varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Lakland lights are 40-100 and TI flats are like..42-.89 or something crazy like that. I guess mine are light medium's? Dan
