To sell or not to sell, that is the question.

Actually, if I could find an Alembic Exploiter, I'm sure I could fill the the hole that selling this bass would create.

It's best to be straightforward about it and tell the buyer that you've made a mistake offering it for sale and apologise for getting their hopes up.
:)

I agree with this.

If this was a situation there you could legally be bound by an oral agreement, you'd be in trouble. But this sounds more like,

Person A: "Let's go to Ruths Chris for dinner tomorrow"

Person B: "Great, I'll meet you there."

The next day:

Person A: "Oops! I really can't afford to spend that kind of money"

Person B: "I'm disappointed and changed plans, but ok."

I grew up listening to things like, "But you promised ....!"

As an adult, that {censored} don't work.

"But you promised to review and adjust my salary after 6 months!"

"But you promised me that we'd get married."

"But you promised you'd drive me to the mall"

That stuff works on the Andy Griffith Show.

That is a beautiful thing....I can't wait to start hitting my keilwerth like crazy once my move is settled....

It's a Rampone & Cazzani R1 Jazz, heavy gold plate, low A, large bore, long neck.

A modern Italian take on the old Conn horns.

Very beautiful, indeed.

I like the "talk to the buyer" recommendation, hoping he'll be cool about it.

But what if he isn't?

What he says ":Tough titties. We made a deal."

Then you'd be selling it to a real a-hole. Fail.

I thought you sold the Sarzo. I could swear you mentioned that a bass is a bass is a bass. They come and go, but that you regret selling the Sarzo.

Maybe you said it was the only one that you'd not get rid of, considering its origin.

nah, the Gibby's gotta go.

Nah, he already said that he's be cool if I changed my mind.

While I'm at it, I'd be willing to let go of many of the others, too.

In fact, for the right price, all of them could be on the block.

That's the one I want. Such a nice bass. But $10k is a hell of a lot.

I can dig you up an exploiter or 2 for less, but you know they won't be cheap bro.

Just don't expect me to actually follow through with the deal until I take your money.

Fixed.
