Members Stranglehold
While the current trend of political threads in the bass forum is still alive, I thought I would ask this. Does anyone but me find it a little alarming that Disney is so openly based, and so openly portrays, strong Christian-conservative values? I'm refering to all their "wholesome, family oriented" shows, movies, and promoted musicians. And the commercials about making kids ride in a carseat until they are a certain size, too. They design every bit of all these things I mentioned above to manipulate the minds of viewers and teach them to be closed-minded individuals, to be unwilling particpants in the machine that is "the right way." Anyone else?
Members J.
Why is "wholesome, family oriented" tied just to "Christian-conservative values"? A lot of people, regardless of political or religious affiliation, want their kids to watch that kind of stuff and not garbage. I don't care for Disney that much myself, but I would never criticize them for promoting the image they do. It's good business.
Members Rowka
Child car seats are a tool of oppression constructed and implimented by the conservative christian right.
Members chunky-b
Ever heard of Buena Vista pictures? That's disneys PG-13 film house... Ever heard of their other studios? They sell what makes money... If that image sells, then they will do it...
Members guitargod0dmw
Why is "wholesome, family oriented" tied just to "Christian-conservative values"? +1? Being family oriented has nothing to do with religion. I'm not religious by any means, but my family is the most important thing in the world to me. I'm not religious by any means, but my family is the most important thing in the world to me. That's not what I meant. I wasn't trying to demean you or anyone else because you love your family. What I meant by family oriented was stuff they say is "family," like a "family show" or "family movie," which has nothing to do with family like they say it does. It's just stuff that kids like, that adults have to pretend to like in front of their kids. It's just strange to me that they would put the label "family" on it instead of just coming out and saying that its for kids.

Maybe so, but in my experience, it only shows one (unrealistic) side of everything and discourages any other take on said side.
Members Jazz Ad
Again, do you have an example rather than vague allegations ?Everything I've seen from Disney encourages kids to be curious and open-minded.

Members t3ch
Uhm, what? I'm anti-religion and anti-establishment as much as the next guy, but I really don't see what your point is. At all. My only complaint with Disney is that they are assholes who bought everything in Orlando so there's no competition. Now I can't go to a goddamn theme park without paying $75 a day. Here's a start. Oh jesus christ
Members ModmanQ6
Hey Stranglehold, it's obvious by your choice of avatars that you are a Warner Bros plant whose job is to infiltrate unsuspecting bass forums and spread nasty propoganda about the competition... I think it was just Walt's vision of what he thought people wanted...and he succeeded big time. My GF LOVES Disney. Hell, we're going there at the end of October...and we're both in our late 20's... Members lokidecat
Yeah, because analysing 50 year old movies with today's filters is a great idea. They still sell those 50-year-old movies by the case. The message is the same and they continue to instruct a whole new generation of bigoted asshats. It's subtle, but racism is learned from somewhere. And if modern movies aren't doing it what is?
