Members BigPigPeaches
So Southbound Lane does an in-store show at Bill's Records and Tapes yesterday. For those not in the know, this is the place you want to go if you want that uber-rare bootleg on vinyl and you don't mind getting completely and totally raped for it. Lo and behold, just before the set starts, a familiar face pops up...I won't name names, but he hangs out here, he owns a bike and a boat, and he's been known to play a P-bass. I think it's a '78. SBL plow through 30 minutes of acoustic meddlery, marked by lots of feedback from our singer's acoustic (he's congenitally unable to remember his soundhole plug and never learns from his mistakes) but overall it's fair. Then, I'm keen to see what this other fella's got to offer, and to my almost-shock, he pulls out an acoustic GUITAR. And starts to play. Lead. And he's pretty damn good. And I have photographic proof. That is all.
Members 78pbass
dammit, I was trying to keep incognito. to be fair, I was goaded into it - i had the fretless ATK with me when we got word our lead player had other obligations. I made the admission to the crowd after you left. By the way, even though we were outside working up how this whole debacle would play out, I had one ear on SBL. Talk about a good group of vocalists and musicians! Y'all are damn good. Kinda reminds me of the Eagles, in terms of the depth of thought put into the music, only without the magnificent ego of Henley/Frey. What was the ABG you were playing? I'm sorry I couldn't stay for the whole set, I had to be at work by 5. The ABG is a POS JB Player that I picked up when we were doing some acoustic sets with the Gobos. Sounds decent when run through the RBI, but it's meh the rest of the time. Hank's in McKinney this Thursday for the Shiner Bock thing...I know it's a hell of a drive for you but if you're up for it we go on some time between 8 and 10 (they haven't even told us our time slot yet...)
