Members Renfield
I'm working with a new group right now that's trying really hard to get me up to speed on the tunes for a gig Oct 4. They (we) are an acoustic rock type of thing. The line up is vocals, acoustic guitar, piano and me on fretless bass. The gig in question? Opening for a band called Brown Brigade, which is the new band from the ex guitarist of Sum 41, Dave Baksh. They are sort of a reggae metal. Members HORSE
I just played with a Latin/Jazz group at a festival. We played in between performances by dance troupes of small children.....
Members Renfield
Not to discredit the all day festival stories, as they are totally relevant, but I was more specifically intending smaller gigs where it's an "intentional" booked evening of entertainment for a crowd, as opposed to a promoter trying to fill all the slots and appeal to the masses as best as possible. Having said that, I did an all day Canada Day gig once years back. There was 12 bands in 12 hours. Other groups consisted of: Acoustic folk duo 11 piece R&B revue My band, a 5 piece technical speed metal band (early Megadeth meets Dream Theater meets Carcass meets Soundgarden ) 3 piece Primus wannabe instrumental band Blues duo of singer/harmonica player and rhythm guitarist. 6 piece bluegrass/country band Top 40 cover band Hardcore punk band

We weren't quite Reggae enough. The other was a "battle of the bands" kind of thing at the Belly Up in San Diego. There was us, a Country band, and a punk/metal act. Members SA Rios
We somehow got booked at a show called "Twang Off". Its was a rockabilly battle of the bands fest held at a venue in Chicago. At the time I was playing in a rock/jam band.

Members JacieFB
If I had a dollar for every hardcore band I've played with, I probably wouldn't be able to write any of my gear purchases off on my taxes. Hardcore bands and their fans HATED The Stunned. So did street punk bands, for some reason. If I had a penny for every metal band I've played awkward shows with, I'd have enough to drink myself into a coma that I'd never wake up from, then pay for my own funeral. Plenty of cash leftover for everyone to get pissed on the finest stout imaginable at my wake, btw. I'm not embarrassed to say it: us opening up for Pansy Division was probably a good choice by the guy who booked us. Probably the most awkward was the 7 Mary Three-type cover band that my drummer booked to fill up a bill. He had no idea that they were a cover band.
