Laptop to PA questions..

If you have a headphone output on your laptop, use that. Highly likely that is 1/8" jack. Use a cable (easily found at your local rat shack) with a 1/8" stereo plug on one end that terminates on the other end with either 2 RCA connectors or 2 1/4" phone jacks. You can either plug into a stereo channel on your mixer or stereo aux return (as Incubitabus mentioned) or if there is an aux RCA input (very likely) you can plug into that.

True. I only mentioned RCA because most boards have at least one set of RCA inputs, while stereo 1/4" are much less common.

yup. if not, planet waves makes one, so any place that sells their stuff should have it.

{censored} that {censored}. That adapter is about $10, then you still have to use an RCA cable.

You can get a 1/8" stereo to RCA pair cable for $3 at Wal-mart and have money left over for a sixer of Milwaukee's Best.

It saddens me most that you know the pricing on this.

BTW - guess who is interviewing for a job with the local Budweiser Distributor tomorrow... :p

I saw "planet waves" and thought, "I bet that {censored} is overpriced." So I looked it up.

I once had to buy a 1/8" --> RCA Y-cable at a gig to run the mp3 player into the PA and Wal-mart was the closest place.

Milwaukee's Best can always be had for less than $7 per six pack. Hell, you could probably get a sixer of Beast and a couple of those delicious Wal-mart hot dogs for $7.

WTF are you doing for Bud?

Possibly selling it to local bars, restaurants and stores. Its actually a cool prospect, since in economic down times it's been shown that alcohol sales will often increase if they even change at all.

I still want to do radio production, and I may pick up a weekend on-air shift with clear channel here to supplement whatever I decide to do.

Actually if you're a sales rep for the distributor there are so many on-sight, on-air promotional events (house bands, car shows, etc.), that your radio production might come in handy from a different angle. Best wishes landing that job.
