Thanks in advance from the headphone out: 1/8" male -> RCA female, then just an RCA cable into the PA's Aux inputs.
Moderators ThudMaker Posted August 21, 2008 Moderators Share Posted August 21, 2008 If you have a headphone output on your laptop, use that. Highly likely that is 1/8" jack. Use a cable (easily found at your local rat shack) with a 1/8" stereo plug on one end that terminates on the other end with either 2 RCA connectors or 2 1/4" phone jacks. You can either plug into a stereo channel on your mixer or stereo aux return (as Incubitabus mentioned) or if there is an aux RCA input (very likely) you can plug into that. I only mentioned RCA because most boards have at least one set of RCA inputs, while stereo 1/4" are much less common.

Members poomwah
I use a line 6 tone port to hook into PA just because I already have one.... if I didn't already have it for recording, I'd just go 1/8 to rca or 1/8 to 1/4 like the guys said above

Members burdizzos
what a waste of 2 channels. Is it less of a waste of channels to have then and not use them? If a guy was sacrificing a kick mic in order to run the laptop into mixer channels, I would agree, but who the hell is going to do that?

That adapter is about $10, then you still have to use an RCA cable. You can get a 1/8" stereo to RCA pair cable for $3 at Wal-mart and have money left over for a sixer of Milwaukee's Best. BTW - guess who is interviewing for a job with the local Budweiser Distributor tomorrow... I saw "planet waves" and thought, "I bet that {censored} is overpriced." So I looked it up. I once had to buy a 1/8" --> RCA Y-cable at a gig to run the mp3 player into the PA and Wal-mart was the closest place. Milwaukee's Best can always be had for less than $7 per six pack. Hell, you could probably get a sixer of Beast and a couple of those delicious Wal-mart hot dogs for $7. WTF are you doing for Bud?
Members chunky-b
You are going to need a pre-amp with that!!

Its actually a cool prospect, since in economic down times it's been shown that alcohol sales will often increase if they even change at all. I still want to do radio production, and I may pick up a weekend on-air shift with clear channel here to supplement whatever I decide to do. Best wishes landing that job.
