Members Crxsh
I don't think this bass would take too well to the Fender replacement thumb rest as it's a 2-screw model and the screws in this one are a bit too far apart. Any ideas where I could find a relatively inexpensive model??? Found an ebony one on eBay for $20 from the UK, but a $20 thumb rest on a $109 bass seems like complete overkill. Members bassman1956
Yup, it's called the P pup. I would agree, except I often like to be closer to the bridge. My fretless has the bridge ashtray which works nice. But this has nothing at that location. And with the bridge pup, not even sure what you could add. So, what about a piece of ebony, plastic, hardwood stained black, whatever, about 2" x 1/2" wide by 1/4" thick, maybe shaped to match the PG curve, with one hole through it. You could add a dab of superglue at each end to keep it from moving. Just a thought.
Members xOriginalNinjax
correct me if I'm wrong...but don't the thumb wrests either screw into the body or separate holes in the pickguard? not the mounting holes?

I'm not sure. I assumed, from what I've read, that you use the mounting holes. I have seen rests further into the guard before however, so I'm sure that's an option. Members bassman1956
Reference this photo, uses the middle screw between the pup and the top, and another additional screw.Frankly, I still play all over, and count on most of my tone while thumbing on the bridge ashtray. For the record, that bass is HOT. But I'm still at a bit of a loss -- did you have to drill for a 2nd screw?

Thanks! It's built that way. If you see a P Bass with that finger rest, not the one on the bottom, it will mount the same way. They are that way on later P's tho, not the early ones. Members groutt
You could use a rubber foot that's meant to mount on the bottom of an electronics chassis.
Members Grumpy_Polecat
Yup, it's called the P pup. If I am not mistaken, the 'P-Pup' on that ax (as pictured) is a terrier of some sort.

I added a thumbrest to my fretless SX P. I used the location of bassman56's as a guide. I only had to drill one hole. I used the two screws that came with the thumbrest.
