Members friction
I've got a line on an Acoustic 370 head for cheap that I plan on picking up soon. I'm getting back into playing bass live, and towards the end of the last time I played bass with a band I had been using my Bassman 50 (it actually sounded great...i played in a garagey 3-piece) but now I could go for some additional headroom and the Acoustic head became available. Any love for the 370? The reviews I've read have been good thus far...anyone have any experience with them?
Members poorboy
They're great heads.See if you can grab a couple of Acoustic 401 cabs.
Members friction
That seems to be the consensus as far as I've heard. Good to know! Somone else had a 320 head and a 301 cab on a local Craigslist posting but for a fortune. Last thing I really need is another cab anyway though! Members bnyswonger
I had one for a year or two. It's not a head I was crazy about, but it had decent power and was very solid and reliable. I bought the whole acoustic 370/301 rig back in late '74. I was 19.

The power is what I'm looking forward to the most. The Bassman 50 actually held up incrediblly well (believe it or not) and the grit I got out of it suited our style well, but by the end of the set it would really get cooking and it'd get almost a little too overdriven. I was basically just looking for a kicker of a head that would be loud and cleaner but I think I lucked out by stumbling across this. Just gotta wait for the guy now! Thanks for the input Somewhat unrelated, but I tried out the new Acoustic head they have at GC and it sounded rather good as well! I can get the 370 for less than the reissue heads so I'll ultimately end up sticking with that hopefully.

My Acoustic 135 (which became my 1x15 cab after the amp blew) sounded great...until it grounded itself, electrocuting me and blowing out the rectifiers in the process. Members Billystrat
I had one and used it hard for a few years. Mine was good 'til 2ohms so it got paired with a whole mess of cabs. It was loud and reliable as stated, but it was pretty gritty and I really wasn't able to get the whole full clean sound I needed. I wish I would've kept it to do some wild multi-amp rig. I prefer to have at least a little at all times, and I use my sovtek Big Muff and other dirt boxes for fuzzier moments. So for me that might be perfect. They run at 4ohms as well as 2ohms, right? I think I remember reading it was 200-some watts at 4ohms, and 300+ at 2ohms...is that accurate? I'll be using it with a 4ohm cab.
