"The OpenStompTM Coyote-1 is an open source audio effects processor built for guitar players. With the Coyote-1 users can develop custom audio effects in software (like distortion, echo, chorus etc.), mix multiple effects to build "patches", and exchange those effects and patches with the OpenStompTM community.

A companion Windows application (OpenStompTM Workbench) allows Users to combine effects into patches graphically, and to move patches and effects between the Coyote-1 device and their PC's disk.

The Coyote-1 O/S is open source so users can tweak it to behave any way they like, and the hardware is fully documented so that developers can take control of the whole pedal, dedicating all available system resources toward the implementation of unique custom solutions."

Hmm. Kind of a cool idea. I think.

That's totally bad ass!

It would be cool if there was a simple floor board with the same function such that you could have direct access to at least ten patches.

Just about all of the high end multi-FX units now have computer interface software that allow the user to program and save patches. It would be nice if they just ripped all of the local controls out of one of those pedals to cut cost and create a simpler pedal.

That's a good idea. A pedal with a bunch of controls and just a USB client interface. No smarts in the pedal. :thu:

I'd only want a memory reset button and the ability to reformat it from a flash drive if the pedal goes sideways so I didn't have to worry about carrying a lap top to gigs. ;)

The price isn't too bad. I'd prefer a pedal with two more footswitches and no knobs.

Not too bad, but considering what it's up against...all modeling pedals...it's price is right up there with them, but with limited options as to what you can do with it at one time. Sure, you can basically make any effect you want from scratch, but I totally agree with you...give me so more buttons so I can have a few patches at once...

It looks like you can have two with it's current config?

I never put my computer on stage and let a guitarist play with it live.
;)

In order to have the capability to load data from an external flash drive you have to have code in internal flash to read the external flash drive. If the code in the internal flash is reliable enough for this, it's surely reliable enough to hold the rest of the code.

Without the goofy name.

Plus, the Open Stomp is Open Source, which is almost as cool as an Apple product.

At one time, the Yamaha had user uploads that you could download for free, not sure how or if they support this anymore.
