Yup, it's that time of the month again.

First up from me (there will be others later) is this little ditty from Ryan Adams.

This gives me the chills. This man lived this life, this comes from the heart for him.

Last year I traveled from Toronto to Cleveland via Detriot. I was in Detroit for a Muse / Social Distortion / Black Rebel Motorcycle Club gig (amazing ) and decided to drive back through NY and hit Cleveland on the way just to see Joe Strummers guitars in person. I went for the Tele, the LP Junior was an added bonus.

That's when I saw Paul Simonen's smashed '74 P bass as well and knew that I had to have that image from London Calling tattooed on my body. Thirteen days later I got it on the back of my elbow. And for those that know me to get the inside reference, yes it was intentionally 13 days later.

You're right Mango, we don't.

It's not that I don't get what they are trying to do with it, I do. But that doesn't change the fact that it just seems so morally reprehensible to pick a song like that to do so over the top.

Green Day's cover of Operation Ivy's song Knowledge.

They slowed it right down and added a walking bassline!

Hmmm....I've never heard that before, and as a big Op Ivy fan I must say I don't like it one bit. I also feel obligated to post the original for the uninitiated.

Well, I didn't think my submission would win me any friends. But that's the story of my life I tell ya, no respect. No respect at all.

i used to love that op ivy cd back in my ska/punk days as a kid. its a shame that disk was not mixed better. man, thats gotta be one of the flattest and weakest sounding mixes of a cd of all time.

"Morally reprehensible"? It's a song cover, not a violent crime...

To tie in with your other thread, Buckley's cover of Hallelujah is obviously amazing...I'd have a hard time conceiving of an improvement over his version...

Another great Buckley version here (not sure why I can't get it to embed)
