The Entergy site still shows widespread outages. Speaking from experience, unless your home has power, the community has potable water, and you can find food and gasoline, it will be 4+ miserable to return home. The only reason to go back is to plan a day to go back in order to mitigate any damages (tarp roofs, secure the premises, clean out the fridge, etc.) and inspect so you can start your insurance claim, then get back out.

Daughter and her husband headed out to south of Lafayette this morning.

My sister & her husband(from Metaire/Jefferson Parish, a 'burb of NOLA) came to our show in Houston last night & may have headed back today. A neighbor with a key said no water in the house(it's been flooded & rebuilt twice!). She's very glad as they were seriously discussing places to move to if they flooded for a 3rd time.

Most of the people I work with in NOLA are heading back tomorrow or Friday.

I have a friend in Baton Rouge, and it seems to be WORSE than NOLA.

I don't expect our offices to be open until Monday.

BR is worse, we only have power thanks to our incredibly powerful generator.

Back at home, I don't have power yet but they're working in the area. Usually this takes 3-5 days when things like this occur, and my area currently has 45% service. I really, really want to watch the Saints game Sunday so I've got to figure that one out. I may try to buy tickets if I can or go to Boomtown Casino (which has a really huge generator too!)

Tomorrow I'm going to track down some gas. I know where to look around here to find it so I don't think it will be too bad. I have a generator and I predict it will see lots of use by my parents who are in lower Terrebonne Parish where the storm hit and there is no estimation of when they'll have power back.

All things considered this could have been a lot worse for New Orleans; instead Baton Rouge and Terrebonne/Lafourche parishes got the worst part this time.

I evacuated out with two dogs and two cats in a Honda Civic Hatchback. We drove 7 hours up to Huntsville, Alabama. We stayed till yesterday, and drove 7 hours back. There was minor damage to our rental home, but we never lost power in our section.

Things are well and the evacuation went great. Good thing it's an election year.

Southbound I-55 through Jackson is pretty packed yesterday and today. I have seen more wrecks in my commute yesterday and today than I have in a long time... They announced that the busses from out shelters were starting back yesterday hauling people back.
