Members rikshaw
At an open mic in Hampton, VA. have they fixed that stage yet? there was a board that would drop a few inches when you step on it right about where you are standing. Members dwalmz
Ugly bass . nice amp;)Awww. come on!! That's my 'fake' Tobias! Not my amp though. That's the house amp (Peavey TNT130). Funny, I actually own one. Don't use it much anymore but it's in way better condition than theirs! Theirs is beat to hell! The cat who usually plays during all the Blues jams max's out all the knobs and it seems the damn thing may explode because he plays so freakin' hard! Members dwalmz
Man how can you play with it so high Greetings fellow Virgin! Err, Virginian. That's high? I've seen higher! I've always played my basses above my waist! On the other hand, I don't get the 'slung low' look at all. Not proper technique and I deem it posing! Just my opinion! :poke:

Members dwalmz
Nice bass Thanks. While it may be a cheap version of a Tobias, it's been my main workhorse since 2000! Zero issues other than the typical low output (I just plug in to the passive inputs).

I've tried both really high (higher than you) and really low like I've seen other people play and I am really uncomfortable with both. Especially really low, since I play with a pick mostly... oof, what a pain. To each their own though You ever play up in the DC area?
Members dwalmz
You ever play up in the DC area? No. I'm originally from NY and played the NYC/Westchester County areas exclusively. I've been in Virginia since 2001 and the scene here is a tough one. Not very diverse but I'm working on it. The current band situation is mostly R&B/Soul & Funk based although we do some Pop and Alternative.

Especially for a soul/funk band. That's too bad, it'd be fun to check out a fellow member's band. If you ever head up be sure to post it

That's too bad, it'd be fun to check out a fellow member's band. If you ever head up be sure to post it I'm sure as we progress, we'll venture into your neighborhood! It's funny because over the summer, they had bands playing down at Buckroe Beach and some of the bands played a lot of R&B/Soul and the folks were eating it up! A lot of Motown and 60's & & 70's Soul. So the demand is here for it. We just want to take a step further and add some Prince/Minneapolis/Dayton, Ohio style funk. They need a good funk band here and I aim to give it to them!
