Bass Strings Question (Ibanez 5)

I am needing / wanting to restring my Ibanez Ergodyne 705. I loaned it to a guy who tuned it EADG with the same strings on it and now they are stretched out and will not hold BEADG without being floppy.

I have absolutley no experience with bass strings, but I have restrung my acoustic and electric guitars. I assume it is a similar process.

Can someone recomend some strings for the Ibanez?

(And help me start an actual bass related thread?!?!?!) :thu:

the Lo-Riders have an harder tension then most strings, and that way whenever a bass has a floppy 5th string, i always recommend them. they are also the best sounding strings to my ears, for the ones that i used. get some, set up your bass for higher tension strings and you'll be in heaven.

The strings were already a little high for my taste, but it is a 3 screw bolt on neck and I am not real good with those.

I think BHK said she had the same bass at one time... Wonder what she used?

Any particular weight for the DRs?

I still have this bass....I'm actually throwing on some webstrings.com stainless .45s on there this week.

I like GHS or Ernie Balls.....never tried the DR Lo Riders

45-130

me too. alot. but the DR's blow them out on the water in every department... except in the affordability department...

I disagree. To this date, I've tried two sets of DR SS Lo-riders. One used set, one fresh set. Didn't like them at all. They're too smooth. They're a little bit higher tension than a normal set of nickel rounds from Fender or D'Addario, but it's not that big a jump. They also sounded like nickelwounds to me.

I prefer Prosteels, especially at two sets for the price of one set of DRs.
