It's pretty cool. There are some really fun places on 6th Street, but really crappy ones as well.

Check and see if there are any mid-major acts playing around the time you're visiting. There's TONS of music venues.

I will try and come over and hang.

Maybe take y'all to a Texas country show at the Nutty Brown Cafe or Midnight Rodeo, hahaha! :thu:

Sounds fun! We'll be down for that. Jan 9-12th. I'd love to go see a ACL show.

Absolutely, positively, without fail make sure you get by Bass Emporium. Do NOT take your wallet. If the weather is nice take a trip out to the Oasis and drink a margarita overlooking Lake Travis. If you are a beer drinker go over to NXNW, they brew their own beer there and its pretty good. Go online to Stubbs BBQ or Antones or the Continental Club and see who is playing in town that weekend.

My (Beatles cover)band's at The Oasis this Friday and a couple times each month. John Files owner of BE is a buddy of mine from way back, absolutely pay him a visit, but not on Sunday or Monday!

Haha, did you guys play there on July 4th? I was there with a big group of people on the patio. I probably heard you!

The Oasis is a cool place to just hang out with a few drinks and friends.

Do512 gives you a good sense of what's going on around town musically. Red River has all the decent rock clubs, the Continental Club on South Congress has a great mix of bands, and there's plenty of other stuff around as well. For food, it just depends on what you are interested in. If you have specifics, let me know and I'll give suggestions. Try to catch a movie at an Alamo Drafthouse; it's a pretty excellent experience, particularly for one of the special events. It'll be fairly chilly down here, although not by your standards, which means you'll miss out on all the best outdoors stuff around here, but a trip out to Enchanted Rock is always nice, especially if you hit Cooper's BBQ out in Llano on your way back.

Basically, there is a ton of stuff to do here. If you give a hint as to what you're looking for I can get more specific for ya.

Is the Stubb's BBQ sauce my dad uses the same as the stuff from the restaurant down there?

Same folks, yes. If you like BBQ I can give you a TON of recommendations for around here. I think we've got the best in the country here in Central Texas, and I'm a pretty huge fan.
