Members Annoying Twit
Don't know if this thread will take off, but I'd like to see pictures of nice basses. I'm going to go for cheap ones, as that's what I'm looking at. This next one is a simple, straightforward, J bass. But I dunno, it just "works" for me. Unusual wood, I like it. Another one for which I think "I could easily afford it, and dang it looks nice."

Members Annoying Twit
Natural wood and through neck works for me. I think the straight grain and headstock works on this.

Members T. Alan Smith
At work, so no pics, but nice basses that I know of include my fretless 'Ray 4, Bassman1957's Jerzy fretless 4, and SmallEQ's Skjold P5.

I prefer this one tbh... I'm not too mad on the new Korean & Chinese SB's. They're ok but there's better basses out there.

I'm the OP in this thread. This thread is a bit of "light relief" as opposed to my self created endless purgatory of "it's just buying a damn bass, it shouldn't be that difficult". For buying a cheap bass to start with, I'm ignoring looks. While I'm still waiting on a seller to get back to me, it is possible that I might get a chance to go view one of these today or tomorrow, in order to shortcut the process. (image too big to inline). http://www.kramerguitars.com/press/P_Striker422Bass-MR.jpg And I don't like the look. Then I can go back to making lowball ebay bids for something like this: and fantasise that oneday I'll get one for a steal.

Members James Hart
I just love this bass me too.... but it was 3rd bass in the line up and I got slammed with some major bills. The guy that bought it did so as a favor... maybe if my shit gets more in order, I'll be able to fetch it back. These are my #1 & #2 so I'll survive without it if I must. Members Annoying Twit
From bits and pieces I've seen around this forum, I believe the above bass is owned by one of the regular posters here. There's a whole bunch of interesting basses on http://www.extendedrangebassist.com. I'm now off to look for youtube clips to see how people play these things. I'm not sure, but is that some two handed tapping only using about half the strings?
