Members jonjohn
I was gassing for a 2x15 cab a while back but ended up getting two 1x15s , because its easier to move and I can just use one etc. That 2x15 giveaway thread kind of got my gas going again.....Anyway my question is ;If a 2x15 has separate chambers would it sound much different to 2 1x15s ???I'm talking the same size ports and specks .like a 2x15 cut in two...does that make sense
Moderators Kindness Posted September 12, 2008 Moderators Share Posted September 12, 2008 Assuming all other variables are held constant, there is no difference in sound.

Members james on bass
I just finished my 15" cab earlier in the week. I'm already jonesin' for a second one. Might free up some coin and get my Dad started on another project.

Members ezstep
Assuming the specs are the same, there should be no difference. But, you rarely find a 1x15 cab of any brand which is exactly 1/2 the height of a 2x15. Take two 1x15 Peavey Tour cabs = 62 inches stacked. One 2x15 Peavey Tour cab = 49 inches height. Also, depth is different, and weight is different (2x61 pounds vs. 91 pounds). I have two 1x15 BagEnd cabs for the same reason that you mentioned - flexibility. I can use one, I can use two, I can use one with 2x12 combo on top, I can use two with 2x12 combo on top, and I have different heads that produce different tones. But, a 2x15 is more compact than two 1x15's, and the sound is killer!
