Members ManistGuitarist
I made a thread about these instruments in the guitar forum where I discussed it's certain attributes and searching for a reason as to why these instruments are so obscure and if it's justified etc. One thing I'm interested in is the sustain bow, but more so for the bass. I dunno, I got a hunch that Jerry's concept would work best as a bass as opposed to a guitar when it comes to the sustain bow. I browsed through this forum's search engine and have found some members (I assume that are predominantly bass players) that have claimed Auerswald to be the best. Namely bassesofalessergod. Anyone own a bass model? Care to share you experiences if so? I NEED to find out. I'm looking for a permanent bass guitar that has a huge sonic pallet. I hope this is the answer. Members bassesofalessergod
i was in touch with the dude years ago about maybe getting a custom made. it looked to be upwards of $15,000 with a huge deposit down so i never followed up. i've never even been in the same room as one to tell you the truth, but the guy knows his {censored} and his philosophies are really quite inspiring. his website isn't nearly as informative as it was a couple of years ago. i'm not sure why he re-did it. i'm basing my judgments purely on words and pictures. Members ManistGuitarist
DAAYUM. $15.000 is quite pricey. Was it based on an existing model? Like the hammer? I assume the bow adds up to a huge chunk of that price no? Thanks for the reply man. I've no idea how I'm gonna get in contact with the guy, he seems nearly impossible to reach. Members 82Daion
I've stood a couple feet away from one of Adam Clayton's. It was the weirdest-looking bass I've ever seen, but it looked to be well-crafted. I can't comment on tone or playability since it was under glass. If you've got that kind of money and want a bass with a broad range of sonic possibilities, check out an Alembic Series II as an alternative. Members 4stringkiller
I used two Auerswald Custom Basses that never came into serial production. Paid 2000-2500 Euros for them. All I can say is that all the handmade stuff like pickups, bridges etc. have done really fine so far.If anyone is interested I `ll sell them (Price 800 Euro/1100USD). Signature by Jerry Auerswald himself on back of the headstock:Auerswald Instruments used to build guitars and basses for (example) PRINCE and U2.If anyone is interested: http://cgi.ebay.de/AUERSWALD-CUSTOM-SHOP-BASS-with-Orig-Hardcase_W0QQitemZ230294286306QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item230294286306&_trkparms=72%3A1229%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14ANDhttp://cgi.ebay.de/AUERSWALD-CUSTOM-SHOP-BASS-with-Original-Hardcase_W0QQitemZ230294285821QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item230294285821&_trkparms=72%3A1229%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 Cheers
