Members 82Daion
I have an opportunity to pick up a pair of these (the original chrome-grill model) for $600. With the Smith coming in, I know for a fact that my Bag End cab won't cut it-it doesn't go anywhere near 100Hz, much less towards the fundamental B. That, and it's heavy, ugly, and I don't feel like dealing with it anymore, since a 2-cab setup would be much more convenient for my circumstances. Anyone have any experience with these? I've played some other Berg cabs and I liked them quite a bit, but I've never tried this specific model. Thanks.

And I'd be pairing them with a GK 1001RB (non-II) if that helps. 540W @ 4 ohms.

Not sure what kind of info you're looking for.
Moderators Kindness Posted September 22, 2008 Moderators Share Posted September 22, 2008 The Berg will sound very similar on the low end. Remember, it is only 15"H x 17-1/2"W x 13"D.

In my limited 1x12 experience, the cabs I've played haven't had much, if any, of an ass. Is that because of the small cabinet dimensions?

Is that because of the small cabinet dimensions? And the drivers. There isn't a whole lot of bass going on in the 1x12 world. Doesn't mean that they aren't fantastic cabinets though. Members SmallEQ
They will handle a low B fine, but if flapping your pant legs is your goal there are better choices. There are a lot of jazz and fusion cats that dig them. As Kindness says, they have a constrained low end, but then again one man's constrained is another man's tight. I think they would due well in your setting, plus the Chrome grills are awesome. Probably my favorite cabs other than my Mesas. Although I don't think I would like them for my current gig as much. Here is a pic to inspire you: (Yes, I have gone through a bit of gear )
Members frunobulax
that's a killer deal and you should jump on it. i've been playing, and gigging those cabs (1 HT and 1 EX) for 5+ years now. never had an issue with low end. it's not gonna move air like a 15 or an 18, but you're going to have a crystal clear bottom end. and they're easy to move around. Members frunobulax
I like a booming lowend sometimes though, and sadly none of them provided it. for those instances where i need to move air (playing in a large room), i've got a Berg 1x15 i add to the stack and push it all with the GBE600. 1 15 and 2 12s is like the 322 on 'roids. That's what I wish my 322 was... I really dislike 10's nowadays. I wonder how the 2x12 compares with the 322, hmm...
