Members brotherbassj
Anyone have experience with the SWR Goliath SR 6x10? Thoughts? I play with a rock band, check my sig for current gear.....I fight a mesa dual rec and a marshall 100 watt both half stacks at gigs. I like my current rig.......but.............. Any thoughts? I am also interested in the berg 322 BUT, have been told it would not be right for my current line up. Thanks in advance:thu:
Members Roger in the sky
well i dont know about the SWR, but 6x10's are awesome i played an ampeg 610 for a while in a hard rock band and it pretty much kicked everyones ass all over the place. huge sound, good punch, big 'ol wheels on the back + sturdy grab bar on top made it easy to manuever. just small enough to fit in the back seat of an average car. i miss that thing. Members Kelemvor
Well, I have the SWR 4x10 and I often throw a Goliath Jr. on top to make 6 10s. I compete against a Fender head into a Marshall 4x12, and another guitar player with a Fender 2x12 combo. Really a single 4x10 is all that I need. I use a passive Warwick corvette into a preamp, then into a SWR head and it gets Very loud and agressive. I think the SWR cabs are known for being very clear, efficient, and articulate. I loved my 4x10 enough that I went out and bought the Goliath Jr. when I saw a good deal. I mostly use it with my GK 400RB for a 'mini rig'. Members bleepo
I have a Genz Benz 610xb2. Punchy, clear, and can go subsonic when I engage my low boost. Kills a fridge any day of the week.
Members bassesofalessergod
The goliath 4x10 is one of the all time great cabs along with the Mesa 2x15 and the Ampeg 8x10 i can't imagine the 6x10 being anything less than awesomeness! Members Kaesh
the swr 6x10 is an excellent cab, but if you like the berg 322 go ahead and grab it. imo it's adequate for any line-up (within reason of course), especially if you use a pre-power amp setup. Members Poltergeist
what about the Bergantino NV610's?
Members T. Alan Smith
what about the Bergantino NV610's? The SWR's prolly half the cost of teh Berg. Otherwise, they're voiced quite different.
Members georgestrings
I've checked out that SWR 610, and it was a good cab, but IMO it ranked underneath 610s by Mesa, G-B, and the SVT610-HLF - in that order... - georgestrings
Members bluedogaudio
I have both a 4x10 and a 6x10, and the 6x10 definitely pushes a lot more air. You may just want to throw a SWR Big Ben under that 4x10 cab.

Members FreestyleIntruder
I haven't used the SWR610 but what I DO know is that their 8x8 cabinet has fantastic punch and articulation and cuts through a dense mix like a laser. Members FloydianAnimal
Man, I really need to get a 6x10 to go with my Mesa 2x15 and Big Block 750... From the sounds of it, I might be better off with an Ampeg or Mesa 6x10 though vs. the SWR

From the sounds of it, I might be better off with an Ampeg or Mesa 6x10 though vs. the SWR Yeah, I'm thinking I might eventually pick up a Mesa 215 to go with my Powerhouse 610, hahaha... After a recent A/B, the Mesa smoked the SWR 610 - it was louder, lower, and had a 3 dimensional sound to it that the SWR didn't have... Don't get me wrong - the SWR sounded really good - if the Mesa hadn't been there, I probably would've gotten the SWR... - georgestrings

Members georgestrings
^ NICE! Thanks - those Mesa 215s are pretty sweet, too - and I'm totally jealous of the BB 750 you're pushing it with... I'm currently pushing mine with a Peavey T-Max, which is definitely getting the job done - but am planning an upgrade this year some time... The short list is: GBE 750 or 600 M6 Carbine, or M-Pulse 600 Or, I might get crazy and go all tube: SVT(older) Mesa 400/400+ Peavey Classic 300 Only time will tell on that... I've got a Tour 450 coming in this week, and *if* it sounds better than my T-Max's(I've got 2), I'll trade one for it and keep the other as a backup - we'll see... - georgestrings
