I didn't have a 4.0 and didn't have any experience, so I didn't get a job at one.

Haha, yeah... I have a less-than-stellar-but-still-slightly-above-average GPA from a well-regarded private university, so I'm hoping that graduating with 2 bachelor's degrees, already having had 2 professional internships, being bilingual, packing my resum

I applied for it right out of school, but my GPA wasn't high, or something. I had already a lot of work experience, but I honestly didn't even call them back for the initial interview... I donno. Kinda felt bad, but it just didn't sit well with me.

With my 3+ years of private firm experience now I could get on if I wanted, and know someone from my gym who works at the Houston KPMG, but I'm kinda over the mega-firm idea.

I'd rather strike out on my own, or look for a midsized firm like where I work now that's ready to add a partner or sell out. I've found I really, really, really don't like working for other people, and especially micro-management.

I know how a small to medium firm should operate, but then again, of course, it's all about getting clients, which is why if you want to go private, buying in or buying out is the way to go.

Plus I like having too much free time to do the Big 4 thing. I know peeps who got there right after school, and your life is pretty much over while you're there. It's rough.

I have reached this conclusion as well. Especially with trying to start a family soon too.

Yep. One of my exes/still good friend's sister works for E&Y as an internal auditor.

She's been there I think 4 years and still has to put in minimum 14 hour days, 7 days a week.
