Members Optimus Prime
It was Ernie Ball Power Slinkys for a few years. Now it's heavy gauge DR Lo-Riders.
Members Gruntollio Bass
Elixirs. Expensive as hell, but easily the best sounding and longest lasting stings I've used.

Members Death Hands
Am I the only person that dislikes DR? I mean... Two experiences now, one costing me 35 bucks, and I've been totally dissatisfied. I really love D'Addario Prosteels.
Members GreaserMatt
Ah, I'm a Rotosound guy. I hear that boomers are good too. I liked those blue steel ones as well... don't know too much about any newer strings they got out there...
Members 82Daion
I've been using DR for a long time now, but I put a set of EB Super Slinkys on the Daion today and they sound great. I'll probably experiment with some new sets once the Smith arrives.

Members Thumper
Yep. I'm a fan of webstrings, too---nickel rounds and flats, depending on the bass.

Members Tolka
Yup. Thomastik Infeld, but they are too frickin' expensive. +1 . Expensive initially yes, but when you consider they can keep their great sound for up to ten years they work out quite cheap.
Members One Bad Monkey
Am I the only person that dislikes DR? I mean... Two experiences now, one costing me 35 bucks, and I've been totally dissatisfied. I'm with you on them. I don't know if I just got two bum sets (the first one I think were Hi-Beams and the G string broke after a week, second was a set of Red Devils that died within a month), but I've been completely "meh" on them since. I'm normally a Blue Steels kind of guy, but the last time I went in for strings at GC, the salesman made a good case for me trying out a set of Rotosounds, even going so far as to say "If you don't like them, I'll make it right." I was actually very impressed with the sound/tone/feel of them to the point that two of my basses are now strung with them. The fact that the B string is tapered makes me happy too (no squeezing the string with pliers to fit in the Warwick bridge anymore).
Members Cpt. Spliff
I kinda envy those guys that have found their strings. I keep swopping them in an attempt to find a set that suits me and a certain bass at the same time. Sometimes I get lucky. Probably I'm just a douche

Members Mytola
Yup. Thomastik Infeld, but they are too frickin' expensive. Same here, except the expensive part. I find them cheap compared to the prices over here in Norway. A 5-string set of Elixirs is about $100 over here, and I get the Thomastik 6-string set (too bad they don't make 5-string sets with the high C...) for under $40 incl. shipping from lordofthestrings.net. Oh, and on the old Yamaha Attitude, I really prefered the DR Lo-riders. And did I mention that I've found my basses as well? Haha!

Probably I'm just a douche While strings play a very important part in you tone, there are other things that are important also, i.e. your amp, speakers and their size, using a pick, finger style and where you pluck. Is it the feel or tone of the strings that you dont seem to be able to get right. ?
