Has anyone tried this?

I was wondering, because you can find spools of that stuff just laying around.

I wouldn't really think shielding would be an issue....but the solder connection might break since the cable is kinda rigid...but I'm sure I could find a way around it...

Transmits the sound just fine, but it's very stiff. I'd worry about people tripping over it a lot, as it would be hard to get it to stay flat on the stage. Also, it's generally produced with the idea that you'll install it and then leave it alone. Repeated coiling/uncoiling/moving about will possibly cause cable failure as the center conductor may break.

excellent points... I have seen some coax that was more flexible than others though...but it might do fine in my practice room.

And it would soften up over time, but when it does, it's sure to break being a solid copper core, not a braided one.

If it doesn't work, you can always try a couple of wire coat hangers wrapped in duct tape for insulation as your two conductors...

I hear they sound as good as some high-end cables....
;)

of course they sound good, it's a solid conductor.

horribly impractical, but yeah it sounds good.

expensive cables are horribly impractical as well when nobody can tell the difference.

That is why I use cheap cables from a local music store with a lifetime warranty. That reminds me, I have two with L connectors that went out I need to return tonight.

methinks you need to read through the chicago cable testing thread for reference ;)
