Members UK_Lefty
Hi guys, Need some help here. I play a gorgeous maple bodied Warwick 4 string active, P and J pups with a nice tonal flexibility and quite comfortable to play. I bought it off ebay without having tried first (bad idea, didnt expect to win with such a low bid though) I do really like this bass, but I cannot seem to forget the Fender Jazz I picked up in a shop. It was so comfortable, flexible tones, I played for a few seconds then thought "shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit did i just play that?!?!?" I found out that my bass is worth more than I paid for it, and almost enough to buy a Fender CIJ Jazz. Do I go for it? Do I put the Warwick on ebay? I'm not sure what to do! :poke:
Members Cpt. Spliff
You know what you have. You like what have. Go back to the shop a couple of times. Try it with an amp like yours and make sure it wasn't a one night stand ?
Members seraphim7s
Mate - I've got a beautiful 1986 3-tone sunburst w/ tort pickguard MIJ 1962 Reissue Fender Jazz that I'm looking to sell. It's been upgraded with Fender Originals / Vintage 62 pickups and a Gotoh 201 bridge. Let me know if yer interested! I'm only selling it because I've realised I'm a born and bred P-bass kinda guy! Members PaulyWally
To me, it seems that people who like Warwicks don't think Fenders are as nice... and vice versa. So I would first consider what YOU really like. Also think about the differences in each instrument, and if you might want to save up for the Fender so you can have both. Next, consider the fact that your Warwick is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. I don't know how things are in the UK, but in the US, people aren't free-spending as much as they were a year ago. It may theoretically be worth more... but it would suck to auction it, and then get a winning bid much lower than you really wanted. Also consider whether or not your Warwick will appreciate... and by how much. Finally, consider that Fender Jazz basses are a dime a dozen. They are all over the place. And the CIJ's are getting more and more accessible. That said, the one you played in the store will certainly not be the last Fender Jazz bass you'll find. Members brotherbassj
Depending on what Warwick you actually have, and what pre-amp is actually in it.......I would keep the Warwick over a jazz...........it has more variety in it's tone shaping abilities.........but the Jazz is a classic.......I have a few.........but I use a Warwick live so I can tweak my tone away from my amp.........hope that helps! Members Thumper
Go back and check out the CIJ Jazz. They're very nice basses.
Members Jugghaid
Peronally, I would take a CIJ Jazz over a Wick any day of the week. But I don' like Wicks. They sound good and are well made basses, but I hate the necks on them and find them aesthetically very unpleasing to say the least.
Members bluedogaudio
I've never liked Warwicks, so I say sell it.

Members RSBro
The Streamer neck is the nicest in the 'Wick line. With that P/J setup, keep the Wick, big time!

Members RSBro
If I had one I would. Actually, the more I mess with it, this DLX-P ain't all that bad. It's just a 4-banger... sigh.

I thought you were a 5-string kind of guy. I wondered why you were going for the 4-string model of that bass. Although, the Fender B-string leaves a lot to be desired, IMO. Perhaps you were going for that classic P 4-string vibe?

Honestly I just wanted to try a REALLY good one. I've messed with MIM/MIJ J's and P's, but to get a nice American version would be the final test for me, and the results were as expected, just like with the Sadowsky. Gah well.
