Members guitargod0dmw
I used my bass rig and my 5150 plugged into my Attitude (dual outputs...one for each pickup) and used the 5150 for distortion and highs...I thought it sounded pretty bad ass. Moderators Kindness Posted October 8, 2008 Moderators Share Posted October 8, 2008 Yeah, if you like blowing speakers None of my amps have speakers, but my speaker cabinets do. :poke:
Members Renfield
I use one, as well as a guitar cab for my bass. I like it better, more picofards in the mid range.
Moderators ThudMaker Posted October 8, 2008 Moderators Share Posted October 8, 2008 Sometimes, I use a Crate V32H into an Avatar SB112 or the GB Neox212T. I also use a Marshall JCM600 head into the SB112 blended with the Mesa M-Pulse into the GB 212 cab. Sounds pretty sweet to my ears.

Members eric.chambers
indeed.only if used improperly. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of a combo amp, wich is usually a bad idea. Using a guitar head is usually fine.

Using a guitar head is usually fine. actually, for a while i was using either a guitar half-stack (with guitar 4x12) or a 2x12 guitar combo as part of my gig rig. using it for the od/distortion channel instead of pedals through my bass amp. i thought it sounded good, and so did the rest of the band. but then i ran into several soundguys who hadn't the slightest clue how to mic it up. ask clatter what she thinks of the idea :D

Members Thumper
OK if you're just using the head. Some, like Hiwatts and Fender Showmans, sound really good. Bad idea to run through a guitar cab.
Members JeffBass
I had an old GK 400b bass amp that I lent to my guitar playing friend who blew up his guitar amp. It was the first time he didn't get drowned out by the other guitar player's Mesa/JBL stack. It sounded KILLER!! I've also seen many guitar players who swear by Fender's old Bassman amps (1x15). Members Cpt. Spliff
In the pagan days Bassman-amps were just that, until the guitards nicked them.

Members Renfield
If I remember correctly Chris Wolstenholme from Muse uses a Marshall halfstack with his bass rig to get his drive sounds I don't belive so, no. He does use Marshall, but they are bass amps. google his name and you'll find a few pages dedicated to his gear. There is also an amazing Muse-wiki site of some kind. Has set lists from every gig and a ton about their gear and more.

Ok then, I did rehearse thru an old Fender twin one time when my old rehearsal amp failed. It did the job but I had to EQ it more for mids and less lows. The sound was cool though, I can see why Squire like to split his highs into a guitar amp and his lows into a bass amp.
