Bass effect pedals

I just got a Dunlop 105Q and Boss Chorus CE-3 during lunch on the super cheap. I also happened across a Morley Dual Bass Wah, but they both have set-throws... My vox I can set into a position and leave there, the 105Q/Morley I have to hold my foot in place if I want to use the effect. I'm not sure I like that.

anyone tried one of these yet? I want to check one out, and possibly buy

I have. I really liked it. The distortion was mild and the compressor was fixed, but it had some good tones in it. It really added life when put in front of a Muff or Micro POG too. I'll likely buy one in the new year... maybe. Alot of space for "just" a preamp pedal.

I like effects pedals on bass. I use them for different textures...during certain sections of songs.

I like different modulations and od/distortion/fuzz the best.

Guitargod is why I have pedals. :thu:

Thanks buddy!

Personally, I blame Tool...Undertow and Adam Jones specifically.

No problem.

You used to have a Valve Drive, right? I've been meaning to ask you, how did you like it? I've been thinking about buying one to take the place of the Sadowsky outboard preamp that I want and to maybe replace my HBE Hematoma. I hear it's the {censored}, or just plain {censored}.

I did. I thought it was a great pedal...but it's expensive and since I really only bought it to be used as a preamp when I had my LMII I couldn't justify keeping it after I sold it.

I remember reading a BP article last year saying that it was really only suited for major distortion and metal type tones...but I thought it was better suited as an overdrive or just to add a little grit to my sound.

Try one out if you can...but I do suspect that I might sound kinda similar to the Hematoma, although I've never tried one.

I like my HBE phaser, and EHX Electric Mistress best.

Phase + delay or EHX + delay is trippy, and fun. Especially with a volume pedal.

I wouldn't use it for fuzz or distortion. I love my Hematoma, but I'm always looking for something better. I kept my Hematoma over my Bass-Drive because it was darker and less compressed. I'm hoping the Valve Drive be be even less compressed than the Hematoma. And I'm totally basing that assumption on the fact that it has a tube. I've wanted to try one of the tube ODs for a long time (they won't let me try out the English Muff'n on bass at GC).

sweet, that is what I am looking for, a mild distortion to fatten things up a bit.

I've been trying to work out some sort of technique with my MicroPOG, MXR flanger and my volume knob similar to the end of this.

I can't get it to work that well though. I think I need to break down and build a volume pedal.

From what I hear, it's IMPOSSIBLE to cut through with that pedal on.

At the rate I'm going, as long as it will cut through the heater or air conditioner, I'll be able to hear myself just fine. ;)

Good to know. As of now, I can take a line out of my Univalve into my GK for OD tones, or just play through the UV for low volume, so I'm in no hurry.

Good to know.

It does sound incredible when Marcus Miller uses it on "'Cause I Want You" though.
