Members Bryan316
Allright, my buddy's testing gear and updating his rig for some change to his sounds. He wants a bass distortion pedal. I'm gonna show him what happens when he uses an MXR Zakk Wylde Overdrive into his amp, his gain cranked. He has an Eden like mine and this is the best way I've found to get a naturally overdriven, non-SS-microchip-sounding fake distortion. But he's got more needs than I do. - True bypass so it doesn't suck tone when not in use- Blend control so he can balance between his dry tone and the overdrive effect- Volume control cuz he can't run back to crank his gain and dial down his master volume just so it doesn't blast him (which is what he'd need to do with my suggested idea, unfortunately) I'm thinking one of those fancypants stompboxes that has a tube inside the pedal like a second preamp. I'm really not up-to-date with which pedals are true-bypass or which ones have effect-blend controls on it instead of full-wet. All I know, is that a tube preamp pushed full-blast with a tube-pusher overdrive pedal is the tone we're looking for. If we can get that without having to change amp settings, he'd be golden. I should tell him to get a 1205 and use the second channel for his overdrive stuff. Heh heh heh... [/evil] Starting flinging yer ideas.

Members Bryan316
Hmm. Dual outputs. Was looking for more of a blend control in the pedal itself instead of blending the two outputs later. But this is good....

But this is good.... when you switch that little switch in the middle to "dry" the volume knob blends the disto and dry channels together. thats how i use it, sounds fing sweet. edit: check it... http://www.ehx.com/assets/instructions/bass-big-muff-pi.pdf
Members bluedogaudio
It took me a long time to find the right bass overdrive, but the Boss does it for me. I found lots of overdrive pedals that had good tone, but I always lost something when I turned the pedal on, and it was usually low end. The Boss has bass and treble knobs, so I can match the level of low end produced with the pedal turned off. I usually roll off some of the high end. It also allows me to blend the distortion with my original tone.

Which is why he wants to get a blend of wet-dry together. All'z I gotta do is figure out if the Bass Muff has a true-bypass when off. EDIT: IT DOES!!!!! BOUGHT!!! Doesn't change the fact that it makes your bass buzz like bees in a tin can though.

"It may have what you want, but still sounds like balls". NOT a fan of the muff.
