Members Last in Line
I find that when I'm playing my fretless jazz bass, that if I start playing notes on the E and especially the A string at about the octave, that it plays a half step along with the original note. Case in point: If I play an A on the octave of the A string, it kinda sounds like A and Ab are ringing at the same time. Any solutions?

Members solderjunkie
...pup height adjustment. yes. My fretless had a "chorus" effect similar to that when the pickups were too close to the strings.
Members BoundandBlocked
I'm guessing that excessive relief is allowing the string between your finger and nut to ring out. That length of string is half the string length less the width of your finger. When you hear the other note are you hearing it through your amp or just acoustically? Try playing the octave note with your pinky and let your other fingers rest on the string. Does that help?

Members Last in Line
pup height adjustment. I just did that, and it helped a little. Now it only does it on the A string at the octave and the b9. Thanks for the info--maybe my neck is just ridiculously weird?
