Members FarToMany
I have one of the original 90's reissues of the Danelectro longhorn basses. It has remained bone stock all this time--but thoughts of putting a real bridge and set of tuners on it, as well as a toggle for a pickup selector keep entering my mind. These things even after 10+ years haven't gained any value, not that im looking to sell it, but if i ever in the future, it seems no one likes modified anything. So i am left with wondering what i should do. Any thoughts?
Members fingeringam
id say mod it but keep the originals in a safe place just in case so u dont kick ur self on the off chance they become valuable
Members FarToMany
yup, was planning on that. But the mods i would be doing would put some extra holes that would not be covered if the stock stuff was put back on--that is whyim asking if i should do it. Members Guttermouth
if you're willing to take the hit on resale or confident that you will never sell it then go for it.i wouldn't hesitate to mod a reissue if it improved the playability and/or tone (those stock bridges are teh suxxorz). Members Jazz Ad
The wooden bridge sounds much better than the metal one on this bass. More of a Dano tone. Otherwise it is good, thick, heavy and easy to adjust.Changing tuners can be a good idea.
