[GEEK] - Computer Speakers... with MIC jack?

I need to replace my PC speakers. I had a pair of Altec Lansing forever and they finally gave up the ghost.

Now I don't want to spend a ton on some fancy Bose-Surround-Sound type thing, something under $100 would be nice. There is only one feature I really care about and I am not even sure if it is available:

Most of the sets I have seen have a headphone jack either right on one of the speakers or the volume control. But I would also really like a MIC jack somewhere other than directly out of the sound card, that's such a pain to get to.

Anyone know of such a beast?

Um...what is that?

An 1/8" extension cable?

I don't see any way that a mic-in on a speaker set would work. They're only attached to your computer via the stereo outs on the soundcard.

Well, I guess it could work if it included a jack to plug into your soundcard, and then brought that wire out to the front... but that would esentially be an 1/8th" extension cable, with less versatility.

That's essentially what they do. I had a Boston Acoustics speaker set a number of years ago that had this feature - there were basically two separate plugs to go into the soundcard.

Sorry, I can't think of any speakers I've seen recently that have this feature.
