Members RSBro
9 times outta 10 way too clicky for me. DI from an amp, I can usually handle! Jeebus, you bastages are slipping in your old age!??! Can't believe nobody nabbed this one yet (I even checked page 2!).
Members prosigna
You'll need a preamp with that.
Members solderjunkie
Beer... check! Amphetamines... check! Preamp... DOH! It's a semi-serious topic, though... I have noticed harshness with the DI. I only use a DI for recording. I blend the DI with the signal from the mic'ed cab. The mic-channel gives a lot of meat and bottom, and the DI gives good string-definition and clarity.
Members RSBro
Definitely. When using a "clean" box DI, I always have to cut the Treb and boost the Mids and Highs just to get rid of the "clank" that's usually associated with them. See, I instantly wanted too, but then thought that the choice of words in the OP title was odd enough that maybe it was actually a parody itself of this idea, so I never made one myself to avoid being redundant.
