I find them to be more reliable..At least i find this in guitar amps. Maybe im wrong about them in bass amps?

Well, except for a very few exceptions, all tube guitar amps certainly sound better than tranny amps. Bass amps, however, are quite different. The all tranny bass amp can be just as coveted as the all tube bass amp. For example, the GK800RB is just as widely used in pro circles as the SVT. Many players prefer the Thunderfunk, or Little Mark II to an all tube head. For my situation, accompanying acoustic players, an all tube head would be overkill...even tho I dig their sound.

It is a MAG300...It still makes sound but smells like its on fire all the time:mad:

Yeah, that's probably a problem.:D

They're decent amps but for what you pay for them new, they're kinda throw-away when they break down. You could find out how much it would be to get it fixed, but if you have a Genz that needs to be fixed, that would be the priority.

If you haven't PM'd Hasbeen yet, you really should do so. He'll be able to make repair recommendations for the Genz amp, he's great and so is his company. They have a fantastic reputation here because if their amps break, they WANT to know about it and are genuinely interested in helping people with them.

At the very least, if you get the Genz repaired, you can sell it to help finance something more powerful. Like a Genz Benz 1200.

Tell us about your current amps. What cabinet/s you use with them, how many what the heads do/don't do.

The Genz is played through a neo 2-12 and the ashdown is played through a matching ashdown 4-10. They both generate signals and amplify the signal. They just smell really hot. The protect light on the genz came on. I took it in and it had a blown fuse. It was replaced and thought it was working fine. Apparently not. I dont think the fan on either are running. Not sure:confused::mad:

High-end and powerful?

The Aguilar DB750 is a great start, if you don't need distortion or drive.

Otherwise their AG500 SC (single channel- no channel 2 overdrive) is true S/S and sounds amazing. I have the dual-channel w/ the drive and don't miss the "hybrid" designs at all. This is so much quicker and clearer, I love it.

I love most Aggy amps overall though. :) Just an alternative to all-tube, of which I am not a fan.

I agree, the 750 would be perfect. A friend of mine plays the 750 through a Aguilar 4x12 cabinet, and the thing will rip your head off. You'd be every guitarist's nightmare! :thu:
