Members Jim-Bass
I loved The Cars - it would annoy me when people said 'oh yeah, Rick's band' 'cause Ben co-founded the band and did their best and biggest songs. Without him, The Cars and Rick O would have been very different. He influenced me to play Bass - definitely. I can't believe 8 years have gone by since he left this mortal coil. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCXkAN28urU
Members JeffBass
I saw him play with Big People right before he died. I thought he was drugged up but saw him backstage getting oxygen and realized he was very sick. He sang Drive that night, very well I might add. The other band mates were guys from Ted Nugent (Derek St. Holmes), 38 Special (lead guitarist, singer) and Billy Joel's band (drummer). They were a great band actually. Would have been good to see him with Nugent. I'm bumping this up 'cause he deserves it.

Members JeffBass
well said. Would have been good to see him with Nugent. I'm bumping this up 'cause he deserves it. Actually Derek St. Holmes was Nugent's other guitarist and lead singer until Ted gave him the boot because, "there can only be one alpha male in my band". Derek St. Holmes had a great voice, he sang Stranglehold and Hey Baby. He's also a killer guitar player. Between him, Orr, and the others, Big People played a phenominal set of all great songs. Great band. The next year they returned but Benjamin was gone. They spoke of him and missed him very much. RIP Orr.
Members Sugarskull
Wow, that was really good. I would have never guessed they'd be that good live.
Members JeffBass
The drummer from Billy Joel's group was LIGHTS OUT. The guitar player/singer from 38 special was the guy who sang "Hold On Loosely" and played lead also. Orr sang Drive and other songs by the Cars. The third guitarist was as good as the others so there you have it, an All Star band known as Big People.
Members Rob Martinez
Great bassplayer, great singer, great image. I saw the Cars for the first time in 1978 opening for Styx in Albuquerque. They really were new and different!

Members Texas Noise Factory
The Cars are another band that I have always enjoyed. Ben went way too soon. His basslines and vocals are amazing to watch. I had always hoped I'd get to see a proper reunion. I guess I'll have to settle with The Cars Unlocked. At least that's a great disc! Members Bottom End
Orr had a much better voice than Ocasek. He was the perfect bassist for The Cars sound. Orr will be missed.

I agree about his voice. Ocasek is good but Orr could sing in different voices ...imagine Ocasek sing Drive. He would have been ok, but it wouldn't have been near as good
