Members Funkee1
Sorry. This may be a dumb question.....but how do companies like Yahoo, Mozilla, Google, etc make money? Is it because they sell advertising? Because, as a user, I know I don't pay anything for them..... I am just curious..... Anyone know?
Members hi.flyer
I think it's just the ads. That seems like pretty much the only internet business plan. ...other than porn. It's crazy b/c they can like, track what you look at and search for and your data on social networking sites and tailor the ads to that. Really, as the internet gets more and more prevalent, advertising on it will probably just get more lucrative. I dunno.
Members SA Rios
It costs upwards of $50,000 a week to be the sponsored link on the top of the first page of a Google search.
Members Jazz Ad
Mozilla's funding is all explained on their site. Most of their money comes from Google adds.Yahoo! loses money instead of making some.Google is opaque but mostly funded by advertisers, companies paying to get a boost in the search results and intranet search jobs for private companies.
