i took a headstock to the face last night at full speed...

remained conscious, but hurt like a bitch none the less.

Ouch. Did the little string end bits cut you up? Mike accidentally caught me in the face with his headstock before during practice and I agree, it hurts like hell.

I was playing at a gig and there was a mosh pit at stage level, and some ass hit my mic stand, and the mic smashed into my mouth, breaking my front tooth. Damn. I saw the guy a few years later and he apologized (again).

he plays a washburn nuno guitar, so the headstock is reversed (tuners down instead of up) and he's hella conscious about trimming his string ends, so it wasn't as bad as it could've been. basically, i took the round nub part of the headstock just below the inside end of my left eyebrow.

if i had a camera, i'd take a picture...

but it's all good. we're a little...frantic on stage, and things just happen. i've taken guitars, headstocks, mic stands, microphones and drum sticks to several areas of my body... all in the name of bringing the metal.

i've never gotten any "permanent" damage, just bumps bruises and some light bleeding. i figure what goes down on stage is just part of the show. it's nothing personal, until my singer starts trying to pluck my back hairs... then it's on like donkey kong

I was in a three piece reggae-ska-funk band a few years ago, and the singer-guitar player and drummer had some issues which built up more and more over time.

Finally one gig, at the very end the singer beaked off at the drummer - who instantly reacted by punching him in the face, right in front of the entire audience.

A singer I know duct tapes the mic stands to the floor for that very reason!

That sucks - although I warned him to be aware of the possibility, my singer made a sudden backwards movement during one of our gigs, and caught a P Bass Special headstock in the face 'bout a year ago... I told him, hey - it's not like I can move outta your way while playing and singing... He's a bit more conscious of the possibility since then - hahaha!!! Fortunately, none the worse for wear longterm - but he was bleeding a little that night - never even knocked my bass the slightest out of tune, though...
