Members georgestrings
My band Shovelhead played a Halloween party at a bar in Redfeild, NY last night, and things went pretty well.... We usually do pretty well there - the owner treats us like gold, we get decent crowds, and they're really appreciative of our music - gotta love a place like that... Last night at the party, there were probably around 100 people there - alot in costumes, and all ready to party... IMO, the highlite of the night was a "sexy costume" contest - which resulted in half a dozen smokin' hotties in skimpy costumes up dancing on the bar for a couple of our songs - naturally, the view was quite good... Besides the obvious fun factor, we made around $100 each, plus drinks and food - which is outstanding at this place - and I'm booking gigs in January and February there... Last winter, we played up there the same weekend as a big demo event for Polaris and Yamaha - when we pulled in the parking lot, there was around 300 snowmobiles there - that night was a riot, too... Anyways, that's a bit of after action report - I didn't get home 'til after 4am, and *probably* could've gotten lucky, if I didn't have a great girl at home... - georgestrings

Members georgestrings
Pics? Well, I saw a friend taking some, so I'll see if he's got any worth looking at... He was mostly taking band pics for our website - but if I were him, I would've gotten some of the babes, too... - georgestrings

I have never had booty shaking at my gigs.
Members georgestrings
I have never had booty shaking at my gigs. That's one of my biggest motivators for gigging - I'm sorry that you've not had that pleasure, although surely you've sampled a little of it - and are just being too modest... - georgestrings

Members georgestrings
We play a mix of metal, hard rock, modern rock - and just enough classic rock to say we do some... Believe it or not, Godsmack, Disturbed, and Rage can get 'em moving sometimes... - georgestrings

Try small, dirty night clubs with original metal on stage. Shaking of booty there is not.

We play Rebel Yell, and a heavy, punkish version of Paint It Black - both of which seem to get 'em moving... Also, AIC's Man in the Box and Would? do well for us in that regard - we're thinking about adding the Ataris version of Boys Of Summer, and Luna Halo's Untouchable, for a couple of songs the chicks will want to dance to... - georgestrings

My next endeavour (White Zombie tribute) should potentially get me much closer into that realm. I'm ok with a little head banging as they shake it. I'd be happy just to look out into the crowd and see any women, regardless of the shake that makes their booty move.

As a bassist, I don't think either of us could be in a realistic WZ trib band - since neither of us are hot chicks... That kinda sucks, though - I dig me some Zombie... - georgestrings

I'm expanding it into Rob's solo work, so I need to look the part of Blasko. I'm up for that with the right clothes and props. WZ was the inspiration to start the band, but yeah, my lack of breasts and their lack of a good modern catalog has led me to shift it slightly. I'm fine with that. Members Sugarskull
Kinda sounds like my gig. 4 bands, at least 100 people, 90% in costume. It was at a killer club, the Palomino. (Anyone touring through Alberta needs to play there.) The staff were awesome. One of the bartenders bought me a drink.. or two or three... we get beer for free, but I'm not a big beer drinker and it only seemed fitting that I should be drinking Caesars (Canadian Bloody Mary) on Halloween. At any rate, there was a mock gun fight, free CDS for all who came, some of our Burlesque girl friends showed up dressed like Catholic School girls and shook their bums for our shift. It was all quite fun.

I *could've* drank as much as I wanted, as they don't charge us for anything there(I ate pretty well, though) - but I still had an hour drive back home, so I only had 5 shots, and drank coke the rest of the night... We usually don't use openers - we've got around 4 sets of material - we played from 9:30 'til 2:10, with two 10 minute breaks - and still had atleast 10 songs left we could play... - georgestrings

Sounds like a fun project - and one that oughta get the girls shakin' things a bit, so that you can enjoy THAT aspect of performing live... - georgestrings

They had us, a touring band from Saskatchewan through called Slowdown Molasses and the Damn Dirty Apes- (a really really unique act!) I'll see if I can round up some pics, Renfield. Members 82Daion
We played a house party last night for 30-40 people. Since we were hosting, there wasn't any pay, but there was beer aplenty and the crowd really enjoyed our music, which will hopefully help attendance at our gig this Saturday. We brought the funk, and there was booty-shaking aplenty.
Members Sugarskull
There will be pics somewhere right? If you can see behind me, our drummer Richie is dressed like Ralphie in the States School project. Mike was Sweeney Todd Please mind my drunken psycho look. ugh. And some friends of ours. I'm still trying to find Catholic School girl pics... cant seem to find her. However, Little Miss Muffet sitting in the bottom right was quite the hit as well. Coincidentally one of the single gals I was going to try to hook you up with if you came to Calgary Mr. Renfield.... :poke: Georgestrings, you don't mind I uploaded the pics here, do you? My intention isn't to hijack, I just didn't see any reason to start a 3rd or 4th "I had a great Halloween gig/party" thread. Have you found any pics from your gig yet?
