Members ToneInMyHead
I just bought a set of TI Flatwounds. Should I put them on the Jazz or the Precision? Or does it totally not matter? As you can tell, I'm somewhat of a newbie to bass. Thanks for your ideas.
Members philthygeezer
I have a P-J with JF344s that sounds great. In short I can't help you. Try the P for a few months and then put them on the Jazz.
Members Renfield
For myself, I don't like flats on a fretted jazz, but can't imagine a fretless jazz without them. As for a P, they sound great with either rounds or flats. Flats on a fretted P is just about as old school as it gets.

Members W33nie
James Jamerson used a P with flats, see if you like his tone (but you can get a different sound with EQ tweaking)

Members Thumper
I've had flats on my MIA '62 Jazz reissue for the last two years, after playing it with rounds since 1986. Jazz Bass + flats =
Members Dave Campbell
My favorite music store in Vancouver, last time I was there, had a '75 Precision with flats on it. I asked to test it out, and in the sound room I got plugged into an old Ampeg B15.Holy {censored} what a sound. THAT, friends, in my opinion, is the holy grail for tone. Members Bernie P.
The TI Jazz flats are great but it takes a few month's for them to come around to their best sound. After that just pray you never break one .Fender's are another good choice.
