12 hours isn't that long. Start worrying at 36 hours.

I've gone incommunicado for 3 or 4 days at a time before, and didn't want anyone to find me. I hope that's the case for your friend as well, don't dwell too hard on what
might
have happened, at least at this point.

thanks ya i gotta look at it like that, and i would have, but his mom, who's SUPER chill called me after 5 hours and said "i have some questions about him, i think he's in some trouble"

i've been texting him just normal stuff i would daily, but i decided to call him an hour ago and his phone is disconnected

thanks guys

find the last place he was seen and work your way back from there. Someone will know something. He may just have found a new love interest and disappeared for awhile. If you dont' hear from him in 24 hours I'd start becoming concerned for sure if this isn't like him. I'd start looking ASAP though because the sooner you get on it the more likely you are to be successful...speaking from much experience in locating people here...

I've disappeared for days... usually it involved a new girlfriend.

Hope your buddy is okay, FAM.

If you ask my friends and family, I've gone missing for months at a time under those circumstances. In fact, my mom recently joked that she knew I was single because she can actually get in touch with me when she needs too.

How old an individual are we talking about here ? And why did his Mom think he might be in some sort of trouble. If we're talking about even a young adult here, I don't see where 12 hours is any cause for alarm unless there is other factoids that raise the concern.
