Members ToeJamFootball
Im bored as hell, and I think I'll rent a flick. I'm thinking some sort of thriller, maybe something along the lines of movies like Memento, The Machinist.

Members Captain Fathead
Have you seen the Prestige? Same director as Memento and Batman Begins/the Dark Knight. Great Flick, has the surprise twist and everything! Hmmm... Other thrillers... Off the top of my head: Blow-Up - It's a bit old school, but it's a great, slow paced murder/not murder. Children of Men - a bit more action, but it has some really cool visuals and great acting/directing/writing. The Conversation - Classic Coppola, but it's a really cool thriller, and Gene Hackman is always good. Eastern Promises - I love this movie, and I think it kicks the crap out of A History of Violence (same actor/director combo). Russians tell me that Viggo Mortenssen plays the character so well they thought he was a russian mafioso. If you want a particularly potent film with some social commentary, check out City of God. It's a personal favorite about the slums cities and drug wars in Brazil. I could probably go on if you want. Lemme know if those work...

Members groutt
The Conversation - Classic Coppola, but it's a really cool thriller, and Gene Hackman is always good. +1 French Connection - also Gene Hackman. The Mechanic - 1972 - Charles Bronson and Jan-Michael Vincent. If you haven't seen it, don't look at wikiepedia. It gives the whole stinkin' plot away. Thief - James Caan and a Tangerine Dream soundtrack. I always tell everyone to watch this. Run Lola Run The Stunt Man - 1980 - Peter O'Toole, Steve Railsback and Barbara Hershey. I tell everyone to watch this too.

Would have been better if it didn't have that "made for tv" vibe too it.
Members ToeJamFootball
Sweet thanks for all the suggestions guys. I've saved all the ones from here I haven't already seen. Gonna rent them over the next week or so. By the way, The Prestige is one of my favourite films too, I bought it on DVD when it was first released. Come to think of it, I think it's the only DVD I have ever payed full price for

Members Derek5272
If you have a big TV and a good surround sound system, Cloverfield's great. It loses a lot with a small screen and 2.1 audio though
Members CuzCutz
Pulp fiction! Saw it again recently after not seeing it in a while... It still pulls me in like it was the first time. Another one from 1991 (I think) is "Deep Cover"
