Members Thunderbroom
It looks like we're adding this song to our repertoire: I'm all for it; however, I think some folks that see us will: On a related note, we're adding "Long Train Running" by the Doobie Brothers. I'm gonna have to actually learn to play bass now.

I don't have a copy of the song yet but hope to soon so that I can start dissecting it. I don't want to be the reason that we can't pull it off. Members L-1329
Jeff, from the playing I've heard you do that song shouldn't be a problem. The parts are really not that technically difficult, but the timing has to be nailed. You should be able to do it easily after you play through it a few times. Members Funkee1
One of the first songs I ever played on stage! Great bassline! Tiran Porter was one of my heroes.

Members Thunderbroom
One of the first songs I ever played on stage! Great bassline! Tiran Porter was one of my heroes. I'm just gonna have to slow it down (once I actually get a copy of the tune) and pick it apart not by note. I'm not looking forward to it as I'm crazy busy with work, school and soon to be with my wife.
Members Funkee1
You have more faith in me than I have in myself. While I've vastly improved over the last couple of years, I still have trouble learning songs.I'm just gonna have to slow it down (once I actually get a copy of the tune) and pick it apart not by note. I'm not looking forward to it as I'm crazy busy with work, school and soon to be with my wife.If it helps any, it's essentially just a G minor blues. The bassline repeats. So if you learn the first 12 bars...........just repeat them!
Moderators ThudMaker Posted November 10, 2008 Moderators Share Posted November 10, 2008 The bass line in the Doobies song isn't very difficult. I'm more interested in the song selection between Pink and the doobies. Are you guys branching out for more audience or adding country twang to rock? Inquiring minds want to know. Members L. Ron Hoover
That Pink song is the most inane thing I've ever heard with possibly the exception of that "I kissed a girl" song..... Both of which the band I just joined are going to cover. Oh well, can't win 'em all, I guess.
