Members Crescent Seven
Didn't want to march in and {censored} all over Catphish's thread, so I started one of my own. Spent my day today getting registered for college. I went and grabbed my transcripts from my last endeavor into higher-ed, which will give me a 24 credit hour head start on my AGS degree, then went and applied at the school. Then, I took the math placement test. Wow. It's been 15 years since I was last in an algebra class, it's amazing how little I retained. Well, not that amazing considering the bargeload of bonghits I've taken since then, but I haven't even seen these equations in that long. I'm going to study up and retake the test, hopefully I can get placed in College Algebra and save myself a couple grand on tuition for remedial math classes... I'm going to pursue a Graphic Design degree, and also take some photography along the way. A few people have told me that it's hard to make $$ in that field, but I don't really care. {censored} them, Renfield. Perhaps someday I'll be designing tricked out album covers or something... I'm also going to get into some writing, maybe make a few bucks writing puff pieces for bands and stuff. I dunno. I feel alot better today, just knowing I'm taking a new path, rather than wishing I was... C7

I hate group based work because it means that:-I don't make 100% of all decisions, which I'm totally unwilling to tolerate-I'll be doing work that others will get credit for, which is not acceptable-Other people might look smarter as a result of my greatness, which is only natural-If I decide I think everyone in the group is an idiot and decide to do it myself, they all get grades for it. Members Psilocybin
I worry about math as well. My plan is to go back to school but I haven't had any math classes since high school (1997). I'm 29 and use very little math in my daily life. My girlfriend is feeling the wrath of college level math. She is 25 and a sophomore in a local college. Her first year she averaged a 3.5 gpa or better, but now her grades are starting to suffer due to the amount of time she must spend working on math assignments. Her math issues aren't due to a lack of effort. I see her work on math assignments for 4 or more hours each night, to include weekends. She goes in early to work with tutors. I get the impression she has a {censored}ty teacher. She failed her last math test as did most of the class. She said most of the class received D's or F's on the last test. Members Crescent Seven
The math class doesn't scare me. I'm the greatest thing that has ever happened on this planet, so I'll pass once someone is teaching it to me. I just can't remember that far back through all that smoke. I just finished the FAFSA application; that's where I need the wishes of good luck. I'm almost certain that I won't be getting a Pell Grant, but as long as I can get a subsidized Stafford, I'll be cool with it. I'm also worried about covering the cost of books. But just for the class with the expensive books. I'm not totally heartless, I'd only take one of his shoes so he can't chase me.C7

C7 If you know your way around on the interwebz, many textbooks from major publishers (McGraw-Hill, Pearson, Prentice Hill, etc.) can be found in electronic format. You can even buy them in electronic format for MUCH less then print.

Have you ever considered getting into refrigeration? I met a guy at a party a few weeks back, he tells me there is SO much work out there it is sick. Another one of those trades hopelessly short staffed. Whenever he goes on vacation he knows he can more than pay for it by doing a little work on the side - wherever he goes. His problem is he has a tough time peeling away from it, it's so busy. Just a thought...

Members Thunderbroom
I welcome you to my world. I spent all day yesterday, from about 8a to around 9p working on an assignment for school. I thought I had until Saturday but realized late yesterday afternoon that I have until midnight tonight to turn in the assignment. I'm still not quite done but will work on it at work during any downtime I have. I'm really happy to see you and catphish getting back into school.
