Members fingeringam
So tonight while finishing a rather long assignment for class tommorow, I decided to turn on my Nekromatix station on Pandora. I made it 15 minutes through and called up the guy who got me into bass. Known him since I was 11. He's retired pilot and has been playing upright since he was 8, has helped me out a ton on electric, despite to willing to give me electric lessons. So I after 2 to 3 minutes of small talk, I just came out and asked if he would give me upright lessons. He was reluctant at first, but has been bored lately with the limited flying he's been able to do, he agreed. I'm stoked as HELL ! Once a week (whenever it fits our schedules) I'll go over to his house for however long I can and learn me some upright The only thing that concerns me, is, well, my lack of an upright. I have no where near enough for a good one, so I'll be limited to playing his at his house only. Would one of those crappy Chinese plywood ones be better than nothing? By the end of next year I should have about $2700, should I just hold out for a decent used one until then? Meh feed my gas and post some pics of sexy ones!!!:love:
Members Annoying Twit
Wouldn't it be a good idea to use a cheaper EUB, like the Stagg, to learn on until you figure if you want to continue?
Members Renfield
I can see listening to Nekroman wanting to make you play. Between him and Geoff Kerieg (sp?) of Tiger Army (the guy you posted above) there's some serious good playing going on. You should be able to get a decent upright for that kind of money, and if you're looking to do rockabilly, you probably want a plywood bass anyway. Check out their site at http://www.spellbound.ie He uses a chinese bass that he has modified and painted up. Looks and sounds pretty good.
