Yessir. It's the goal of any government to expand and control. If you (general you) can't see this by now, that it's not Reps v. Dems, I'm not sure there's much hope. It's rights and liberty versus control and oppression.
Moderators Kindness Posted November 12, 2008 Moderators Share Posted November 12, 2008 It's rights and liberty versus control and oppression. Dennis: What I object to is you automatically treatin' me like an inferior. Arthur: Well, I am king. Dennis: Oh, king, eh? Very nice. And how'd you get that, then? By exploiting the workers! By hanging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society! If there's ever going to be any progress-- Dennis' Mother: [interrupts]... Dennis: We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to act as sort-of-executive officer for the week-- Arthur: Yes. Dennis: But all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special biweekly meeting-- Arthur: Yes, I see. Dennis: By a simple majority, in the case of purely internal affairs-- Arthur: [getting bored] Be quiet. Dennis: But by a two thirds majority, in the case of more major-- Arthur: Be quiet! I order you to be quiet! Dennis' Mother: Order, eh? Who does he think he is? Arthur: I am your king! Dennis' Mother: Well I didn't vote for you. Arthur: You don't vote for kings! Dennis' Mother: How'd you become king, then? Arthur: The Lady of the Lake, [Angel chorus begins singing in background] her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water signifying by Divine Providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. [Angel chorus ends] That is why I am your king! Dennis: Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. Arthur: Be quiet! Dennis: You can't expect to wield supreme power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you! Arthur: Shut up! Dennis: I mean, if I went 'round saying I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away! Arthur: Shut up! Will you shut up?! [Grabs Dennis and shakes him] Dennis: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system! Arthur: Shut up! Dennis: Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help! Help! I'm being repressed!

Reminds me of the part in church from "Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood"- "And now, we come to the part of the service, where it's time to give. Time for you to give generously!! Don't ask, I tell ya, why does the preacher have to have a nice house, huh! Huh! Don't ask, well, why, why does the preacher drive a nice car, huh! Why does the preacher need such expensive suits, huh! Don't ask, I tell ya! Don't ask, don't ask!!! Just... give the money."
Members Crescent Seven
It's amazing how blatant they're becoming with this {censored}. 20 years ago, we wouldn't have heard a word about it, now they're like "{censored} yeah!! We're gonna jack you clowns for your red noses and give them to Rudolph, and you ain't got a god damn thing to say about it. Go {censored} yourselves." I was listening to Paul Harvey (or Ron Chapman) yesterday, and he was saying that the AIG executives were caught on another high-roller vacation at some swank golf resort in Phoenix. Turns out the hotel was told that not only would there be no "AIG" logos or any other reference to AIG allowed at the resort, but that the employees of the resort were not allowed to say "AIG". We're getting skull{censored}ed here, people. There has been much distasteful banter about an attempt on Obama's life, but I wonder how safe these Congressmen feel these days. They HAVE to know this is pissing people off...C7

Members J.
Now that we've started down this road, there's no end in sight. All these other companies want bailouts. Remember when President Bush and the Federal Reserve crew told us how urgent the recent $700B (well, $850B after pork) bailout was and how it needed to be passed NOW? What about the imminent financial collapse? Are we glad that they restored liquidity to the market? In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. From time to time we've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else? All of us together, in and out of government, must bear the burden. The solutions we seek must be equitable, with no one group singled out to pay a higher price. Those words are just as true today as they were almost 30 years ago. Agreed. The problem is, when "the nice guy" or "the new guy" ends up running, he gets crucified for having those "different" beliefs and is run out of town for going against the system and the norm. I don't want that something to start, but it's worth noting that the government has no fear of the people, and hasn't for a long time. We can't even prosecute these assholes. If scams like they pull on us everyday were perpetrated in the private sector, people would be going to prison. The only difference between the congress robbing us the way they do, and someone holding up a liquor store at gunpoint, is that the media reports it differently.C7
