Members sultan417
Just got in my Audere Jazz bass preamp and im about to go ahead and install it but im not sure which pickups i want to go with. The bass has Duncan 1/4lb's right now, but out of my parts box i fished out a set of Fender Custom Shop 60's. Im thinking that since the Duncans are nuclear output ill use the Fenders since they have a touch less output and might work better with the preamp. Sound logical? Members knuckle_head
Output is output - which has the better tone naked? If you have the opportunity and inclination mount them both and wire them directly to the jack. Make your pick based on what they sound like raw. Members basshog
I use those Fender Custom Shop 60's pickups in my jazz basses and I LOVE them. I get more complements on my tone from recording engineers now. They have a hard time believing that it's a Mexi Jazz they are hearing. They are hands down the best Jazz pickups I have heard for a vintage tone.Smooth
Members bluedogaudio
I say try the Duncans....I'm just not a big fan of Fender pickups.
Members Bubbalou
I say try the Duncans....I'm just not a big fan of Fender pickups. I have Duncan 1/4 pounders in an SX Bass. They are hot sounding by themselves. If I were going to use a Preamp with them I think I would choose the Fenders 60's. However since you have them both see what rings your bell.
