Members Funkee1
http://www.usmagazine.com/news/kanye-west-slams-jt-he-went-on-vacation-i-made-albums Kanye West has never been one for modesty. "I realize that my place and position in history is that I will go down as the voice of this generation, of this decade, I will be the loudest voice," West, 31, says in a new interview with the Associated Press. "It's me settling into that position of just really accepting that it's one thing to say you want to do it, and it's another thing to really end up being like Michael Jordan," he added. The Grammy-Award winning rapper also slams Justin Timberlake, saying he missed his chance to be a music MVP. "There were people who had the potential to do it but they went on vacation, so when Justin went on vacation I made albums," West said. "And it just came out to be that." (Timberlake's released his last album FutureSex/LoveSounds in 2006. West dropped a CD last year, and his newest disc, 808s and Heartbreak, hits stores Nov. 25.) See photos of Justin Timberlake through the years. On a more sober note, West admitted he's been struggling since the Nov. 2007 death of his mother, Donda. "I'm just going through balancing that. And I always used to have that support system, you know," he said. "My mom would be there; no matter what, she was there before everything." "We were together for like 30 years," he added. And you know now when I'm on that stage and I look out and I say, 'What am I going to do with the rest of my life?' Like when does a real life start?'" "Because I have sacrificed real life to be a celebrity and to give this art to people, which is great," he said. "It is great that I was able to do that, I'm not trying to shun that in any way, but it's definitely a Catch-22, and it's bittersweet." Now making statements like that is one thing when you are making decent records, but have ya heard his new single? You're about to...... I have defended this man! I think he has actual talent, both as a rhymer, and as a producer, but after hearing that festering turd of a single, I think he's really lost his sanity. Kanye, I suggest you get back to making good records, and shut up! And if you can't do that, then just shut up!! You don't hear Rodney Jerkins comparing himself to Jordan do ya? You have to have that mantle thrust upon you, a la Kurt Cobain, then you have to humbly defer to someone else. "No... I'm not the voice of my generation. There's others out there better than me. I'm just a guy who writes songs!" That's what Kanye should do......but either way, voice of a generation or not.....he should stop speaking in public! Yes, it's "Love Lockdown", and if you like that, well........things must be very different on your home planet. Well, the video is horrible . . . The song though, it feels real. As in, when I listen to the song, I don't just hear some dude whining, I hear someone really saying exactly what they are feeling. It comes out a little simplistic and repetitive, but I get the feeling that is who Kanye really is, and beyond that sometimes when you are reacting to something jarring emotionally, it becomes harder to express yourself, and things start coming out in this way. All of this adds to the reality of the song, so I think it is a good song.

You're not talking about a person honestly deserving the title. IF Kanye deserves it, give it to him. Or do you want to make him a Dennis Rodman: someone who'll never get the respect he's due because he lacks humility? Throw that humility crap in the trash! I dont really know what draws me to it but, I've been listening to it tons lately (i do hate the video though). I've never been a Kanye fan but Love Lockdown made be go and check out some of his older stuff. And about his whining, it may be a bit much and sometimes borderline retarded but he is definitely a big personality and i can't really blame anyone for shamelessly being themselves (something i aspire to, in fact). There's a difference between "not humble" and "galactically arrogant"... Michael Jordan was "not humble", Barry Bonds was "arrogant"... I think we're arguing symantics. It's ok to not like Bonds or West or Rodman--for whatever reasons. I also sense that in some of those personalities their arrogance/lack of humility/assholeness was a strategy they used to reach their achievements. Weeping vaginas taste good. Can we at least agree on that? Does anyone disagree? Probably JeffBass disagrees. I don't think he & I completely agree on anything.
Members King Kashue
It's ok to not like Bonds or West or Rodman--for whatever reasons. I didn't say otherwise. In fact, I didn't say anything at all about like or dislike. My statement wasn't about my feelings towards the person, it was about my perception as to the nature of a specific behavior in addition to how that behavior relates to their performance at their craft. There's the difference between MJ and Bonds, or Jim Brown and Bonds, et. al., and then there is Daryle Ward acting like he's Bonds... In other words, if you actually do something impressive and then act like it, it's one thing, but if you act like you've accomplished something every time you manage to wipe your ass without getting {censored} on your fingers, that's another... Weeping vaginas taste good. Can we at least agree on that? I have no empirical evidence either way by which to come to a decision.
