Members unclebill98
Hi all. Anyone using this cab? Was thinking of mono bridging a SVT4 into it. Any one any stories or other suggestions on this setup? All thoughts welcomed.
Members tylytle
I bridge a Crown XTi 2000 to mine. Works great.
Members Ender_rpm
I used one with and SVT3 Pro a few years back. Awesome cab, but very much a pain to transport (for me), and needs a lot of power to come alive. But if you have the juice, its got big rock tone in abundance. Members Zeromus-X
Which HLF? SVT-410HLF, PR-410HLF, etc.
Members unclebill98
Hi Lads, Thanks for the input. I've heard the cab and I was impressed with it. Just wanted to bridge the SVT4 into it. The exact model is http://ampeg.com/products/classic/svt410hlf/index.html Bridged XTI, sounds interesting. As for its weight, it'll be the heaviest thing I'll have. The bands subs are 36kg so its just under that. Just fed up with {censored}e cabs and want something thats solid and gives a good thump!!! I'm playing 5 stringer mainly now, Its handled it well in the shop but as with anything, on the road will make or break it.
Members guitargod0dmw
I've heard good things about those cabs for 5 stringers and rock, but I've never tried one myself. I do hear they like a lot of power...like mentioned in this thread.
Members greenshag
I used one for several years with a SVT3. I always found it a bit too boomy for my mid-range oomph sound. I believe it was due to the ports on it. Worked great for a 5er, no farting at all. It does need some serious power, and was only 4 ohms....it was also too big to get into the back of my car (toyota corolla), so I always had to have a buddy help me transport it. all in all, great cab imo. Members JeffBass
Consider cab this instead. It is in my humble (cough cough) opinion that your wallet, back, and ears will all thank you afterward. On sale now. https://www.carvinguitars.com/products/single.php?product=BRX10.4NEO
Members BottomHeavyKate
I use the B series one. I'm only using a B2RE to push it though so it can be lacking but I get the tone I want out of it and I'm not playing live right now.
Members unclebill98
cheers for the input. Carvin is not really a stocked brand in Ireland. Would love to try one out.

Members georgestrings
Which HLF?SVT-410HLF, PR-410HLF, etc. You really can't go wrong with either one - they're both great cabs... - georgestrings
Members georgestrings
As for those cabs needing lots of power - I pushed one with a Peavey Mark VI, and it would get louder than any reasonable gig would require... BTW, I was playing it in a loud modern rock band and it handled the low B very well... - georgestrings
Members georgestrings
With all due respect to Jeffbass - IMO, Carvin doesn't make a 410 that can come close to comparing to the SVT410-HLF, and the price difference isn't all that much between the two - although the Carvin will obviously be lighter with those Neo drivers... - georgestrings
Members unclebill98
Emm, I've tried a few of those Neo cabs. I really liked the Genz Benz Neo212, but I'm after head room and I've a feeling this cab is the right one. Just wanted to hear peoples thoughts. I'm getting it saturday so hopefully it will work out... if not theres always a money back thingy!!
Members JeffBass
As a matter of fact many people (including forum posters) consider the Carvin's sound to be better than the Ampeg's, which is described by many as colored and "boomy". You can always add color but you can't remove it, I say. Most describe the Carvin as deep, transparent and very musical. Let your amp color it up if you need it. Members tylytle
I wonder if the Carvin has the drive and punch the Ampeg has. Mine is very aggresive sounding, which I do like.
Members browndog021
I have the same cab you are getting. I really like it alot but it is tough to tame the boominess out of it. I built a custom amp riser for it , which helps ,not to mention it makes it a little easier to hear.I have the svt-3 pro but I think I am going to get a 4-pro and keep the 3 for a backup. Members brake
My SVT-410HLF is the perfect cab for me....it doesn't like cars though. I can fit it in the back seat of my Pontiac Sunfire just fine, but I couldn't get it in the back seat of my '88 Grand Marquis. weird.

Members unclebill98
I love you guys..... This is great input. After looking around I can not get my hands on Carvin to test so thats that. Seeing the some of you are actually using the cab with the head and there does seem to be a boominess issue. I'm not really going to push this thing hard. I'd get away with not mono bridging it but just want the head room tbh. I've got a van so no worries about transport there. Any ideas on covers for the cab?
Members Dave Campbell
I wish my back could handle huffing Ampeg stuff around. Pure tone. I remember a few years back I was hanging out in a friend's rehearsal space, and there was a borrowed HLF410 cab and classic reissue SVT head there. My buddy had a Made in China(!) Squier Precision - probably a $200 bass, but holy crap, even IT sounded great through that setup.
