Members Thunderbroom
I keep eyeing the larger single bottle beers at my local store and have no idea which ones to try. While I realize that this is a stretch since availability varies by region and actual store, do any of you have any recommendations? My store carries stuff by Dogfish Head, Three Floyd's, Sierra Nevada, Dead Guy and a bunch of others.
Members y-o-y
If there are any of the Stone beers, go for one of those.
Members db.
Try something Belgian, preferably a nice lager. Anything darker tends to kick your butt. Stella Artois is a good one.

Members Thumper
The only Rogue I've had lately I didn't care for it the Chipolte Ale. I recently had a Brutal Bitter that was pretty good, and Dad's Little Helper is pretty intense. Check out Rogue Ales for more info. Rogue also opened a distillery in 2003, and they offer some nice rums and gins. Siletz Brewing and Pelican Brewery are very nice, too, if your local store carries them. My store does not have the linked brews. The did have a Double Dead Guy in the large bottle. It's a doppelbock.

In fact, buy every bottle they have in stock, and ambush the distributor when home comes by to restock.

I bought a 22 of the Double Dead Guy Ale cuz I thought the bottle looked super cool. It was good but not worth the price.
Members Thunderbroom
Three Floyd's (in Munster, IN) is quickly becoming my favorite brewer. I had no idea where Munster is so I ran it in Mapquest: 45 miles. I'm so going there to try some of their specialty stuff.
Members db.
I've tried Stella Artois. Meh. And y-o-y...no Stone. Then if you want something wicked and devlish, darker, higher alcohol content with a ton of flavor, try Duvel, if you can find it. Also Belgian, but very different. Made by monks, I believe. Can't find Duvel, try Verboden Frucht (Forbidden Fruit). 'Nuff said.

Members willsellout
The only Rogue that is worth the price is the "Brewer"; it's a work of art. Double Dead guy is a joke, and not anywhere near being good enough for them to be charging that much. Even the folks at the Rogue laugh at anything with Dead Guy in the title:D Dan
Members D Aussie
Do us Aussies a favor and ask for a Barons. They have just started selling them in USA, and they make a great brew. I second the suggestin of buying anything Belgian, UNLESS it is a lager. Belgian lager is an oxymoron. Buy Belgian Ale. Kwak Buccaneer Pirat 3 Monts La Chouffe Or look to your Canadian friends for stuff from Unibrau. Lu Fin Du Mon Dont drink lager... dirty bottom feeders! Members Oddsock
I liked some of the Avery beers, kind of sweet though. I think the Salvation was the one I preferred... BTW, those 22 ounce bottles are great for bottling homebrew. If you save them up, you can get some cash back selling them on craigslist.

Members y-o-y
I was just at the Wild Oats with the intention of picking up a 22 or something from Stone when I spied a bunch of 6ers from Indian Wells Brewing Company. I went for the Lobotomy Double Bock. 10.8% ABV.

Stella Artois is a good one. +1 for Stella Artois. Made in Belgium since A.D. 1366. Higher alchohol content and excellent taste in beer.
