Members Cliff Fiscal
It's kind of weird that one bass sounds better at practice, while the other sounds good at a gig.
Members Dave Campbell
I especially find a big difference in playing solo at home -vs- cranking at a gig. The sound is totally different. It can sound fab at home and {censored}e on the gig, and vice versa.

I find this all the time, depending on the band mix, room, amp, etc... My Jaguar was a great case in point. Fantastic playing bass, sounded great in rehearsal with either band at the time, but never 'sat' right on the gig no matter how hard I tried... What's weird to me are basses that don't really grab me at a rehearsal that absolutely kill on the gig... Dano Longhorn comes to mind! -robert
Members xOriginalNinjax
Y'all are playing the wrong basses. :poke: My Schecter and Jazz both sit fine both at home and at the gig.

I suppose this is a good example of don't take everything you read on the internet to heart.......go out there and try things yourself. It's amazing how much a PA system can shift your tone. I actually ended up using the P for a few songs, but I had to crank the tone control way back.

Members ToeJamFootball
bridge Jazz pickup solo'd? Yeah man, give it a go, it's great, you have to EQ it a fair bit, up the lows and low mids, take out a little highs. I will have to record it for you so you can hear how good it sounds. The problem wasn't the bass. Next time don't let the sound guy EQ your tone away.

I was kinda thinkin' the same thing. Seems the EQ was more ideal for the Jazz bass vs. the P-Bass... Of course, I'm no expert on EQing either... Actually, we did the sound ourselves, and didn't have a proper setup.....plus I was going direct out. I had the mids and the highs all of the way down.
