Members tonybagosmashed
I just read a post that reminded me of my wants a few years ago. The Carvin amps. I was looking into the redlines and the BRX series, I think thats what it was. Never did try those but they were real good in price for their said wattage. The question is, of all the above mentioned. Where will your money be spent better with? The Hartke and Behringer both seem to have some decent stuff for great prices. Never tried any Carvin. Just curious and maybe it will help someone else out who's shopping with a $600 to $1000 budget.

Members countrybass
I don't know much about Carvin, but I know that I don't care for Hartke or Behringer. I just don't think they're good quality.
Members Roguetitan
how about none of the above. there are other brands in the same price range that blow all 3 0f those out of the water. If i had to choose between those 3 I would go with the Carvin amp first then the Hartke.

I forgot about Gallien Krueger. I know they aint the greatest amps and cabs but for the budget IF someone was to want something in that range, that was the question. I played threw someones hartke 3500 and 410 and I remember it sounding pretty good. Also tried out the Behringer 300 watt head and that sounded ok as well. So for that kinda money you could get by. :blah:

Just my take. bynswonger LOL That is a big +1:D I love the Behringer V amp pro rack mount fx processor and FCB 1010 midi foot controller. as far as Hartke is concerned the Bass heads are decent but the older cabs suck balls However I have several pieces of Samson gear that I love. Carvin makes very nice guitars and sound reinforcement gear. but all 3 company's are IMO lacking in the Amp department.
Members rpsands
The old Hartke hybrid heads sound wonderful and can be had for a song -- Ha7000 was on craigslist for 250 here not too long ago. I would recommend them over GK in the used market, simply due to the price difference. They seem super reliable too - I've played at least 3 really beat up ones in pawn shops and such, and they always sound great. Like GM says, stay away from the aluminum cones. Get yourself a nice Peavey or Avatar cab and an HA7000, and you'll be out for However, at the 1000 range, I would be sorely tempted to use the Ebay 10% off coupon on that GBE1200 on the bay for 759 right now, and score it for 675, leaving 325 for a cab That thing is a farkin steal. Members dwalmz
Sorry, there's nothing wrong with Hartkes. In fact their new line of amps and cabs are making small waves. Stu Hamm and Nate Watts are well known users and Victa Wooten has been using them here and there. I own a 5500 (since '04) and a 3000 (since '02) with neither giving me an ounce of trouble since I've owned them!
Members 82Daion
The Carvin B-series are great amps, and the B1500 is an excellent value right now. I've never been bowled over by Hartke, and Behringer is crap.

Members poomwah
not impressed at all with behringer. I used to play all carvin. and with the exception of the redline series I loved it. I recently switched to carvin cabs with a hartke head just because someone gave me a hartke 3500. I originally planned on using it as a backup, but I love the sound I'm getting out of it with my main bass

Moderators Kindness Posted November 20, 2008 Moderators Share Posted November 20, 2008 $600-$1,000? I'd suggest a used GK RB800 for $300-$400 and an Avatar 4x10 for $429. I'd actually do the following for myself:1970's Ampeg V-4B and a cabinet from LDS in which I'd install an Eminence Kappalite 3015-LF and an 18Sound 6ND410 crossed over at 800 Hz. Members tonybagosmashed
Wow! Nice! Congrats! Can not need more than that right? My wife is about to kill me with this "I'm not satisfied with my sound" shiiit............lol She's real supportive of the music but I can tell at times i get a little under her skin with it. :poke: I've had several bass heads that I havnt been satisfied with because of the lack of punch or tone so hopefully this one cures that. The fender 800 pro was almost good enough but just needed something else and Im not sure what that something is. But, done searching for it. We shall see. Members bnyswonger
The GC down in KY has a used SWR big bertha 215 for only $300. With that head, you could seriously gig anywhere.
Members tonybagosmashed
PLease dont make me spend any more money......lmao I wonder if the fender pro cabs will handle that head? 410 and a 115 8ohms
