ahh come on , we all like what we like , They have their market , um I own a BK4
on a side note I saw Pamela Anderson in the Hollywood store , wow she's tiny but bust'n out

I have nothing against Carvin gear, whatsoever. I'm open to the idea that every person has their own taste in tone, functionality and other areas.

I just despise the fanboy mentality.

If it was about tone, taste and functionality, fine. But Carvin is dedicated to the worst imaginable customer service.

I wanna see Carvin shrivel up, then go begging Congress for a bailout. At the Congressional hearing, live on C-SPAN, Harry Reid should get up on the table and pee on those Carvin people and scream, "get ya'lls pissy asses outta my hearing! Run! Go see if some Somali pirates will bail your asses out!"

Carvin kinda depresses me.

I still have fond memories of them from the 80's. They were the coolest company. During the 90's, saw them go from professional grade to hobbyist grade with most of their gear, and soon afterward, reports began to come in of poor quality control and customer service.

I still believe the BB75 & BB76 could be tremendous basses(even with the stock pups n pres), and I have hopes that their new bass amplification lineup displays long term quality.

Their guitars look great, and seem to still get good reviews overall, and their guitar amps continue to rock as well.

Jeff's a great guy tho, and fun to hang with, so be easy on him. :)

I almost like some of their gear, but the pickups kinda ruin it for me. is there any need to put 643 screws on each one?

I think the pickup thing is their "claim to fame." IIRC, they started as a pickup manufacturer, then moved on to making steel guitars, then the rest later.

So those polka dot pickups are here to stay.

I hate their PA equipment. Had a pair of 15" mains that kept crapping out on us.

But I've loved every Carvin bass I ever noodled on. I have a custom-ordered thru-neck for my current bass project. Ebony fretboard, SS frets, blank headstock, no dot markers. It's gonna be awesome.

It'll be awesome until you need their help. That's when Dr. Jekyll turns into Mr. Hyde.

I'm honest about my experiences, not a blind "fanboy". I don't work for Carvin but my new Carvin amp is a serious asskicker and that's a fact. I include a lot of details in my posts about the capabilities of the amp so people understand how it works. The thought that went into the design of the amp shows the ingenuity of their engineers IMO. It's a great design and seems to be very well constructed, FAR better than the old amps.

As you all can tell by now, I won't go away or keep my mouth shut like some other people because of the Carvin Hate Club. When people ask "what is a good versatile amp for 600 bucks?", how can I keep my mouth shut when it's the best and most versatile amp I ever owned? I can't and I won't. If somebody lives nearby and wants to give mine a test run, feel free to PM me and we'll set something up.

I have a story regarding Carvin's customer service. I once ordered a new B5. I never did really fall in love with it, and I ended up trading it for an older LB75. The new owner of the B5 discovered that the neck was warped, so he contacted Carvin. Carvin asked me to verify he was the rightful new owner of the bass, which I did, then they replaced the neck for him. This must have been about 5-6 years ago.

The older LB75 was a solid bass, but I could have lived without the gloss finish on the neck. Personal preference thang I suppose...

I have a Carvin story too. It was my bass, and I was the original owner. It's truss rod failed and they wouldn't do a damn thing for me about it. Nothing. Even as the original owner. The problem with Carvin is that for ever good story you might hear, there is one bad one. No other maker I've dealt with has such a pitifull record, or ratio of what we'd all call 'good' customer service. Carvin is in a league of their own with crap service of their products, and an unwillingness to help their customers when things go wrong. Fortunately your friend got the good side. Many others have got the bad side.

I understand, but I thought it only fair to share my more positive experience.

I think JeffBass is just really excited about his gear that is working very well for him, give him a break. Having one JeffBass rave about Carvin is refreshing after the wave of GB vs Markbass fanboys. He loves his gear and wants to spread the love, nothing wrong with that..

Me too.:thu:

I'm also a reformed Carvin fanboi. I used to have a Carvin bass rig, guitar rig, bass and guitar. All of it has had problems except for the guitar, which is now showing signs of a very slowly developing neck twist. I couldn't even get my Belaire guitar combo repaired, as most shops didn't want a Carvin project to work on. Seems that Carvin makes parts and support unavailable to independent shops so you have to only deal with them, and pay shipping. I fortunately found someone to check over it and replace a preamp tube, and then gave the damn thing away. Same with the 210 bass cab I had. Worthless resale and nothing but hassle with problems is not worth a minute more of my time. I won't ever be giving them more business for these reasons, regardless of their 'new' product lines. I've since found better tones and MUCH better support elsewhere, which sure as hell wasn't hard to do.
