SO the show was great! What a band, so tight, lots of energy, can't say anything bad about it except I didn't get to meet them and shake their hands. it was really , really good. As a Delbert fan, I was blown away, it was every bit as good as I had hoped it would be, which is saying a lot because I have wicked high expectations when it comes to live music...

As a bass player and sound guy, I was less than thrilled... from what I could tell the bass player was using a soundgear bass.. I've never been a fan... he was using an Ampeg rig, I've never been a fan of them, tonight was just affirmation of my previous opinions. It sounded like ampeg. all fat and no definition. It really could have used a good dose of mids. Not a lot, but some so it wasn't just incoherent rumble. THe tone sounded really good on one song, but one out of an hour+ worth is not a good percent....

Also, the horns (which made my guitar player cream himself, they were that good, and only two of them....) were a hair too loud when they were acenting any part that had vocals, they really buried Delbert in a few parts, and he was already plenty loud and on top of the mix...

I'm so glad I went, I've missed Delbert a bunch of times because we always seemed to be playing when he came to town, and now I've seen him, and it was good... I can't help but think this is sort of prophetic, too much to be coincidence, I finally start writing AND I finally get a chane to see Delbert play his tunes live... must be fate, this means something... that might just be the Jameson talking.... With Vegas concert venue prices I was glad my guitar player and his wife brought a small flask of Jameson in, otherwise I would have been parched..... ;P

Forgot to add some funny moments from the night... I was comped a starbucks coffee.. THey had none made and I waited until they made new coffee, the kid gave me my Grande coffee for free... go me

I walked up to the 'WIll Call' table in a sea of elderly folks (the casino he was playing in caters to the local crowd, which in Vegas means the old folks) and the gal looks at me and asks :"Is this a Band ticket or did you buy one?" I guess with my 'look' (Hat, tinted glasses, vest over a nice shirt, jeans {Levi's 542 Low flare, women's jeans} and John FLuevog boots) put together as it is (always, unless I'm at the gym) she could tell I wsn't part of the normal clientelle, sadly i had bought my ticket....

so that was a few fun things besides the show itself........

We cover 'Every Time I Roll the Dice.'

What a great performer. Enjoy the show!
:thu:

We do "Roll the DIce" too! and "WHy Me" .. I do "shotgun Rider" on my acoustic and I love to mess around with "Shaky Ground" on bass!

It was every bit as good as I had hoped, One of the best shows I've seen in a while, right up with the DOobie Bros, they are equally as tight, but in a differnet way ...

I've seen him a couple of times. He always gets my feet to tappin'.

I like a lot of his songs, but one of my favorites is the duet "Good Man, Good Woman."

That's a good tune, too, just fun music! The world needs more appreciation for this kind of music IMHO
